We still finished 11th twice with Lukaku Dave.

Our best season in this league, we had Marcus Bent up top and Quality players like tommy Grav/Arteta, Carsley and Cahill in the engine room.

I think the problem is playing Barcelona's system with Accrington Stanley's players! I just hope when we get a fit squad they can enact the system better.

A pretty decent performance needs somebody like Bob Latchford playing centre forward though.

Nope, midfield is still my top priority, I would buy 3 CMs before I bought a Striker.

We added attacking players in Rico and Bernard.

Games are won and lost in midfield.

They're won by scoring goals mate. Always have been and always will be.

We have been pony since Lukaku left.

Whilst I don't disagree that we need a better striker Dave, and goals do indeed win you games, I've personally seen enough strikers at Everton over the years toil badly through a lack of proper creativity from both the central midfield and out on the wings.

If we had a quality playmaker in the area of the pitch that Schneiderlin takes up then we'd look miles better going forward right off the bat. It genuinely infuriates me that we haven't had this kind of player at the club since Arteta in his pomp. For me that's absolutely the key to sparking our 'resurgence', if it were ever to actually happen.

Neves at Wolves should be the benchmark of the type and quality needed.

For me thats the key position to focus on right now.

...regarding the full backs pushing on, I think they have to be sensible and selective in doing so. Yesterday Digne was the furthest forward at a moment when we had possession deep in central area. That is a bit reckless. The ball was played forward, Tosun lost control and we were left totally exposed. Had Tosun collected the ball, Digne can spring but he already further up the pitch than Tosun.

I recall a few years back under Martinez when we were a couple of goals up at Chelsea. Our RB was near the Chelsea corner flag, the ball fell to Fabregas who launched it long and Stones/Jagielka were totally exposed as Costa scored. We want the full backs bombing on but at the right times.

Perhaps Gomes is the deep lying playmaker you require.

He’s got some cross on him but needs more support from his team when defending.

Richarlison on the left and the whole team is transformed because of it.
