He looks very decent at left back but I’ve seen he’s played centre back as well? What’s he like there? I must admit I quite like the idea of 3 at the back as an option where the 2 on the outside are comfortable when they get dragged out wide - like Walker when he plays for England.

I wanted us to get Tierney in the summer but I’m so glad we ended up with Digne.

To be honest, he is a very complete footballer, so can play in a number of positions. For us, it would be interesting to see if we could perhaps play both him and Digne up the left. Bale was converted from a left back and, while I am not saying Tierney can reach anything like his levels, he is certainly very comfortable on the ball. I have missed the days when we could rely on good wing play from Baines and Pienaar.

As the fella alluded to above, he has even played at right back on occasion.

Yeah, he is very well rounded. I would be interested to see if he could even play with Digne, with the pair switching positions, interchanging the full back and wing positions.
 

If he can play left back, right back, left sided centre back and on the wing he would be a great addition to the squad. Only problem would be where to actually play him as Digne has nailed down his strongest position! The last thing he wants is to end up a bits and pieces player and £30 million is a lot to pay for someone not starting in there strongest position.

£30mil is a lot...but if it gives us a great utility player then we perhaps wouldnt need 2 players for depth in some positions...which would possibly save money.

Other problems is would he be happy not starting when we have our strongest team out. I know I sound like I'm looking for problems but I always like to look at things from every angle.

If he got in the team then the player whose place he took would be on the bench.

Then if an injury to another player he could move over there with the bench player coming into his former position.

I would even consider him for £25 million if he was just a left back and right back and then you have Jonjoe Kenny and Antonee Robinson as back ups. We'll see what happens in the summer but I have faith in Brands to get the right players and Silva to utilise them. Just a shame last summer happened and we arent further on in the project!

I really like the idea of having a top notch defence with quality cover.

It would certainly be very nice to be able to have Digne, Wan Bissaka and Tierney as the full back options and loan out robinson and kenny for a season next year.

Then again we also need a new Centre midfield and better forwards lol
