ancelotti had him essentially isolated whilst being our main creative output, he is a great palyer but can;t do everything

we would be foolish to let him go for <40M and ideally we keep him whilst creating a team that allows him to flourish without expecting him to do literally everything

I don't think Madrid/Ancelotti will be in for him personally - they've just got Alaba.

Hope he stays and also hope no one else chances their arm bidding on digne ( or any other of our better players!) - they will depend on the appointment of our next manager.

If he was as good as we think he is, he
wouldn't be spending his peak years at a mid table team going nowhere. The problem is that we're so starved of good players that when we have one we big them up beyond what they are.

Could also be that they always felt he was only here for the money and didn't put much effort in. Then again, the exact same could be said about them...

Digne flatters to deceive a lot of the time as well, has done since he's been here. Some games he looks unplayable, others he looks like an imposter, same as everyone else really. He puts up decent numbers, but if we can get silly money for him, I wouldn't be gutted if he left. Especially seen as we are sitting on 2 excellent prospects in the same position, and Godfrey played his best football there when Digne was out of the side.

Same goes for Richarlison as well. He has done OK in fits and starts, but if we could get close to double our money as has been mooted, I don't think he's irreplaceable.

Honestly, the only 1st team players I would be bothered about keeping would be Calvert Lewin and Godfrey. They should be who we build the side around. James would be another, but I'm less convinced he will want to stick around.

I'd maybe say Holgate at a push if he could find his best form again. Plus, I don't think we would get a great deal for him.

I used to think people like Digne are sacred,
but I don't think in this team anyone is 100% right for the team.
I wish we could start from scratch - these long bloated contracts have left us in a right mess
