Transfer Rumour Luis Diaz

It's a big game of risk if the Diaz / James saga goes on and on tomorrow, and it's probably likely to.

Fine if it works out in the end, but if not we lose out twice over.

It would be a brave call for someone to pull the plug on that in the early evening, and make a loan move for Daniel James, for example.

It's all ifs and buts, but I think this transfer defines the window for us.

Diaz would give us one bit of glamour and excitement. If we don't / can't get him, we should still try to do business elsewhere, even on loan, to the extent possible.

The squad is very threadbare, and addressing that by whatever means we can, is pivotal to our season.
The Mina deal went to the wire a couple of years ago didn’t it? With rumours through the early afternoon that United were making a last ditch bid

The good thing is that the Portuguese window shuts near enough at the same time as ours

Porto want money, we haven't got money.
It's not happening.
We shouldn't be leaving transfers this late in the window, every f**king window.
Every window and team have the same problems, it either get business done early which in the main we have done recently or wait until the end of window as selling teams want top dollar and panic buys.... We have also done this, see the Iwobi debacle as one example.

So it's the same thing then. Cheers.
It isn't the same thing as you well know.

I don't know if we have money to spend or not but there are limits on what can be spent that depend on wage reduction and moving on players the manager doesn't want.

Those events open up the opportunity to spend.... none of us know if there is money to spend... or at least I don't and I have not come across anybody here who does anything other than express their own opinion but have no knowledge of the financial situation at the club.

We've spent £500m+ in the last five years so in all honesty I wouldn't be at all surprised if the well has run dry while we focus on the stadium for a bit.

Money has to be raised from sales and shifting players out, like a sustainable model.

So yes, I don't think we're rolling in dough but it's just the pesky P&S rules which are stopping us.

However, the money we do have available, can't be spent because of those rules until the players move out. But we aren't getting fees in for players so we definitely aren't going to have like £40/50m to spend. It's probably about £15/20m, hence us trying so hard to include James in the deal for Diaz.

Was this some sort of smokescreen while we went after McNeil.
Either way we need one first eleven quality signing tied up.

Can't see this one happening think to do business with Portuguese outfits you need to have a wad of dough which we dont have this summer.

If its not feasible move on to McNeil quickly
Knock it off with the McNeil shouts mate. He just isn't worth what Burnley want for him - it would end up being an Iwobi style transfer again.

There are so many good wingers out there that could give us some star power like Diaz. A player like Diaz can win you games on his own when he is at it. McNeil just isn't that sort of player.

Wait and see - if McNeil is available at the right place he'll be the likely back up to Diaz.

The whole logistics of this deal makes it hard to see it go through. Diaz is probably in La Paz or wherever the capital of Bolivia is these days. Medicals etc etc and the biggest stumbling block will be James, can we get a taker for him that can afford his wages. Think we might be stuck with him, also feel we need to shift a few more of our fringe players like JJK and Delph, not going to be easy. If Tosun hadn't done his ACL it would have giving us more leverage.

Rondon and AMN look like the best we can do for now.

With FFP our hands are tied due to the b as bad investment of years ago.

I think Burnley would be mad to sell McNeill, he is so integral to what they do, he seems to be the only young player in a team of journeymen, he gets them up the pitch and his delivery his really important to them, it's not like them selling Michael Keane when they had James Tarkowski to step in, Maxwell Cornet signing is the only thing that makes me wonder if Burnley are thinking of selling.

This guy was supposedly in a hotel in Liverpool a few weeks ago wasn’t he?
If so, hopefully this deal is ready to go as soon as J Rod signs elsewhere.
