I do think they tried mate.

James was for the FFP reasons. We also didn't have enough in the budget to match what Porto wanted. So we tried to bridge the gap with James.

Issue is, Porto probably don't want a completely different type of player to replace Diaz (who is a rapid winger). And, James is on big wages so they probably didn't want to pay them.

Now I'm glad we aren't paying James to play for someone else, as that's part of the reason we're in this mess is decisions like that. But it's definitely a deal we should try again for in January.

No messing about, it's clear we wanted him and he wanted us, so go back in for it. We should have more leeway in the budget by then with the small fees coming in from today.

Yeah I realised after that a 2004 Ferrari is a better analogy. It didn't seem very relatable though.

People are questioning the value for money and whether we can afford it given our current financial position. It's not an unreasonable debate at all. If he is used as a bench player then maybe he can be available most weeks.

Adding him and Dumfries or 2 similar players in them positions, would have been perfect, but it seemed to all hinge on getting rid of kean early and for 30mil+.

What disappoints me, Is why we can’t do a loan with an obligation. Spurs do it, Chelsea have done, juve have done it to us. We got some money in towards the end.

I just wish we would move on from transfers, after 48hrs. It seems we were talking to Porto for a while, same with Dumfries and psv
