Lukaku - Love affair over ?

I never thought they took to him at all...ok, maybe when he first signed and he went on a decent scoring run they had an open mind, but it didn't take long before they saw what we had to deal with. He can hardly trap a bag of cement which means you lose possession a lot and he is still not bossing the big games with any regularity. The excuse used to be he is young and he will get better but he is 25 and still doing the exact same thing.

If on top of this he starts to miss sitters against teams like Wolves he is going to find himself being shown the door. He has a great goal scoring record so I would welcome him back but I can see him looking for a league that has defenders that are a level below or a team that is so far ahead of its rivals (Bayern?) that the missed opportunities won't matter or it will help take the pressure from his game so he doesn't miss.

The same United fans who doesn't think he is good enough are the same that don't see that a side with pogba Lukaku Sanchez are struggling to get draws against the likes of wolves.

If you put an attacking manager in charge of united , they will be as feared as the kopites are in terms of attack. They have the right players for the right positions but with a manager who is now too stuck in his ways to make the most of it.

Lukaku would score 30 plus goals for a better attack manager easy, just right club wrong manager for him at the moment.

And yes I would have him back in a heartbeat. It will take us another 20 years to find a striker as good as him as it took us that long to replace cottie with Lukaku

Absolutely hilarious that people in this thread don't think he's good enough for a top team. Anyone who watches United will tell you that there is something badly off with their attacking play and that Lingard, Sanchez, Martial etc are struggling too.

Lukaku will still hit 25 goals this season, meanwhile we've got Tosun who probably won't get 25 goals in his entire Everton career.

All my united supporting friends keep asking me if I want him back. Its so weird, what did they expect? Surely they scouted him and knew he was just a goalscorer. His record is great there yet he's one of the biggest scapegoats.

Q) would you have him back

A) well yes obvs, he's better than anything we have now, so why wouldn't you.

But if we did have a style of play...I dont count being gash as a style btw, he would mess it up, it all has to be about him.
And 20+ goals we'd still be having a moan at his deficiencies as at 25 he's about as good as hes going to get.

He was given shedfulls of money to play his stuff here, but was forever looking over the horizon on the bright lights elsewhere. For this reason I never 'loved' him, for he was never one if us.

Sure I liked that he scored goals for us, but he never, ever felt like he was an Everton player to me, just a temp filling in, the sort who keeps chatting about how his last job was better. Don't want that back.

That is up to him to prove that he is good enough, evidence suggests not. You can fill your boots as much as you want against the fillers to pad out the stats but that doesn't win you leagues and cups. When he scored 25 league goals for us 8 came against 2 different clubs, totally bottled it when it looked like he was going to become the golden boot winner though. I saw Wales play Belgium 3 times in a short timeframe and he wasted chances for fun when the team really needed him. We all saw him miss 5 or 6 chances against utd in the Semi. So how is it funny that some are looking at that and questioning him?
