Lukaku - Love affair over ?

You're genuinely mad if you wouldn't have Rom back in a heartbeat. Forget £10 mil, I'd happily give them north of £50 million. If we had him yesterday I'm quite confident with his finishing ability and pace in behind versus Arsenals high line we would've beaten them.

He's far from replaceable thus far.

He may well have scored yesterday or he may have easily just not been arsed. .. that's Rom

In my book Richarlison. He will be 3 times the player and end up being a number 9 very soon.

that's an incredible shout considering Rom was our best striker since Latchford & Lineker. Most of us would have Lukaku as among the top 5 strikers we've ever had in our entire history.

and Richarlison will be 3 times that? by dixie's quiff, that will be something!

He would have been a complete non-factor in the Arsenal game, but right now he'd be gearing up to put a few of Fulham's little fart defenders on the weights on Saturday.

He's like those jarg British boxers that go on a streak of beating up bouncers and kitchen fitters on Joshua undercards, and then get properly filled in when they have to face someone who didn't stop at Sports Direct to buy a pair of shorts and a mouthguard on the way to the arena.

Lukaku best 5 strikers in our entire history? Really??? He's not even in the top 5 I've seen in 40 years.... Sharp, Gray, lineker, Rooney, Ferguson, campbell straight off the top of my head.

I don't judge strikers purely on goals and on that basis he is well down the line.

Take Big Dunc..... he had to play with some absolute garbage. Dross. Without him we were nothing and people quickly forget this when they look at his goals. Put Lukaku in those teams and he would find his way into the centre halves back pockets instead of leading the line looking for scraps from the likes of pembridge and pistone. Imagine the moans and gestures from him.

Head over to Red Cafe.... they are all over him for what he is. He demands a ball on a plate and can't react otherwise as he's flat footed.

He is an oversized Tony Cottee. A penalty box operator. Our attacking mids would have a nightmare linking with him.

Imagine Romelu instead of DCL with Richarlison and Walcott either side, 25 goals a season minimum

I'll say one thing for DCL... he can control the thing. I think Richarlison would struggle with Rom - Rom isn't sharp enough to play with him.

As for Walcott.... jury is out on him. Has Rom like laziness and effort issues.

Tony Cottee is one of the best strikers we've had of the last 30 years...criminally-underrated. He had a better goals-per-game ratio than any Blue in the modern era apart from Lineker & Latchford themselves who were before his time, and until Rom came along.

Goals win games. Rom is ahead of all those players you name. It's not just my opinion, check out these polls. The first one asks who our greatest striker of the post-war era is, Rom is in 4th place. The 2nd poll asks who our best player of the Prem-era of any outfield position is. Rom is in 3rd-place.

Lukaku is very highly-regarded among our fanbase, despite having a few very vocal antis...

Tony Cottee did nothing for the team other than wait for the ball. Good finisher - not quite as lazy as lukaku.

Those polls are gonna be answered by a large proportion of kids or sub 30 year olds who never seen Beardsley play for us.... an absolute class player, lukaku ahead of Arteta??? Not fit to lace his boots IMO. But that's goals for ya I guess.

No. We've got loads of 30-50 year olds on this forum...that age-span is the majority, i bet.

No, my vote is the one with the blue-tick next to it: Latchford for best striker, and Rom for best Prem-player.
