Lukaku

Someone established that this was from a freelance writer that writes normally for the telegraph. Just rehashed.

They have a track record of publishing stories against Everton. Quite obviously. There isn't a player of ours they haven't had an "EXCLUSIVE" sale of to a club. Barring Hibbert.

The mirror has a terrible track record @ijjysmith demonstrated

The way I see it, all the media reports (along with the ITKs) were/are BS, Lukaku finished his season with us and went straight to Belgium’s squad without going back to Chelsea, after the World Cup he went straight to his holidays, he will be back today to Chelsea, so in other words, since last August 31, for over 11 months he was outside Chelsea’s camp.

He knows that we want him here, he knows that we want to buy him and pay him the wages he want and more importantly he knows that he will be our main striker if he comes.

He also knows that Chelsea bought Costa who will be the main striker no matter what he (Lukaku) does in training/pre season games, he also knows that Torres and Drogba are in the mix and might be ahead of him in the squad.

He was a Chelsea fan as a kid and his idol was Drogba, but he had a very unpleasant time at Chelsea and is not on a good term with Mourinho, he knows that if he stayed at Chelsea, he will be backup for now, that’s if Mourinho wants him there anyway, he will find out today what Chelsea want from him, Mourinho might already have decided that he is for sale.

The way I see it and knowing how Mourinho thinks/acts and the financial situation of Chelsea, they will not be in a hurry to offload him, most probably Mourinho will tell him to go out on loan again and gain a further year of experience, will he accept that? I don’t know, he still has 2 years in his contract, if Chelsea want him to stay on the long term, they will offer him a new contract, if he signs, they will send him out on loan again and have him back next season after Drogba retires.

If he refuses to sign a new contract and refuses to go out on loan again and tells Mourinho he wants to move to Everton, we will be in a very good position (financially), in the same time, if you read what Roberto is saying about the relationship with Chelsea, it is clear that he doesn’t want to upset Mourinho and Chelsea (for future loans and transfers).

Conclusion: It might drag till the end of the window as Roberto said, Lukaku has to decide what he wants, Chelsea have to decide what they want and we will make sure we don’t upset them, so I will be surprised if we sign him this week like everyone is expecting.

Agree.

Chelsea need to sell this year if they want max return. Fee will go down if it's the last year of the contract.

If they don't sell, they need to get him on a new contract this year. I can't see that happening unless they offer enough money to be too good to refuse. But that seems silly for a current fourth choice striker.

Loaning out doesn't improve the situation for them, except recoup some wages.

But, they could test the market at £30m, and fall back to £24m towards the end of the window if no-one bites.

So as you say, it could drag on.

Yes!

Kenwright has "good friends" at Chelsea so I refuse to believe he wouldn't have known Chelsea's asking price months ago.

So after weeks of coming up with all sorts of reasons why Lukaku won't join Everton, they've found out - literally hours after Sky have reported a deal is close to being done for 24m - that Chelsea are demanding a ludicrous 30m?

Well ain't that just the most coincidentally fortunate timing you've seen? Thank goodness for those hard working journalists as the Mirror making sure we are loaded with the facts - that nobody will ever sign for Everton, and everyone we have will leave.
