£20m rising to £30m with add-ons and clauses... fine by me.

Take a look around at how much players are going for. Rom is more than worth that price, we're just not used to spunkin so much in one window, let alone on one player!

Agree.

Chelsea need to sell this year if they want max return. Fee will go down if it's the last year of the contract.

If they don't sell, they need to get him on a new contract this year. I can't see that happening unless they offer enough money to be too good to refuse. But that seems silly for a current fourth choice striker.

Loaning out doesn't improve the situation for them, except recoup some wages.

But, they could test the market at £30m, and fall back to £24m towards the end of the window if no-one bites.

So as you say, it could drag on.

Yes!

I don’t think he will leave the club he supported as a kid and go to another club and fight for his place, so the links to Real and Juve are not worrying, if he went to Real or Juve he will not be their main striker, he will be backup and will have to fight for his place, if he wants to leave Chelsea it’s because he is not their main striker, he wants to play regularly.

The teams in the Premier League and Europe who can afford paying 20+M and his wages already have first choice strikers

As I said, he will either stay at Chelsea and fight for his place or move to a club to become the main striker, apart from us, I don’t see many candidates out there.

It’s pretty much between us and Chelsea

I think the whole "he was a childhood Chelsea fan" thing is a bit overblown. It's not like he grew up in west London and was in their academy.

Exactly.

Surely an Anderlecht fan
I'm just projecting but he was probably more of a drogba fan anyway. Us continentals tend to latch on to a club that our favourite players are at - for a lot of dutchies that has been arsenal because of Bergkamp/Overmars/van Persie - but it's nothing like being an out and out supporter of the club and certainly nothing that would influence signing a contract unlike say Ross for us who is actually a born and bred blue.

IF chelsea where to ask for 30 million its time to forget about him remy for 8.5 is a bargain an get another striker hernandez would be great

This squad number thing is a red herring.

I just had a look at their squad numbers and none of the players they had out on loan last season have been allocated squad numbers and that includes the player they have just given a new contract to
