In all seriousness, watching him against Chelsea, he's trying to hard to be a target man.

Last year, he was playing HIS game, not trying to play anyone else game. In his press conference when we signed him, he went on about improving his touch, and back to goal play. We can see that's improving, but pretty much every pass he played against Chelsea, and the most he played against Arsenal, were completely backwards. Not sideways, or forwards, or looking to slip in the creative players, but straight back to centre backs or deep lying midfielders.

Needs to stop trying to be what everyone thinks he should be and play his [Poor language removed] game. Only person he needs to listen to is Martinez.

The whole squad's lack of fitness is a problem, not just his. Martinez gave them too long off in pre-season to start the season well, although I think it'll come good towards the end.

Also, he should never have cut off his dreads.

Martinez is clearly deploying him in this way, Lukaku has actually said so in the past (said he found it harder but he was going along with the managers wishes, something along those lines).

Hasn't surprised me that he's not scoring as I watched Lukaku in 2014 and expected no different. The real question is whether he develops the potential to be a consistent top drawer all round striker over the next year or so.

Said it before he signed - if he gets 15 goals this season, he's had a tremendous campaign. People say he "guarantees goals" when he hasn't done it ever in the style of system we play now, so it's obvious we have to look at him as what he is - a 21 year old who isn't a £28m player now, but if he has his head screwed on and learns then he could be that and more.

I really don't know how we are going to get the best out of him. If defenders get touch tight and don't allow him to face them up he's pretty much stumped and yeah as stated, makes back passes - albeit unconvincingly.

Ahh the reverse Heskey argument. He was a player who had decided (somehow) that he was a dainty penalty box finisher, unfortunately every manager looked at him and decided he should be use his muscle, play with his back to goal and knock balls down for their actual striker, a role he wasn't that enthusiastic about. He was rotten as a striker, and vaguely passable (because of his size) when supporting one.

Manager beats players delusions every time for me.
Bobby is the Boss he know's what's best, if it fails it's his fault not the players, it's the way football has always been.
