One thing that strikes me is he seems like a sensible, down to earth lad and not the mercenary type. He would obviously prefer to be Chelsea's number 1 but I think he knows that isn't on the cards now so he will have to decide what matters most next.
After the love he got playing for us last year, from the fans, Bobby and the team, plus the relative success I think that will have had an impact and made an impression on how he would like to be appreciated, something he clearly is at Goodison.
I know I'm setting myself up for a fall but I really do think we have a good chance of being one of his preferred teams. Whether we can afford him is a whole new discussion.

If he were to sign for a team not in Champs league I might blame us a bit but it's not necessarily all down to us if he gets a few cracking offers from elsewhere, or wants to wait to see what the World Cup brings him.
