I don't see how people have ever thought it possible Rom would return. Since he packed his boots I don't think he's mentioned us in dispatches at all not even the hint of a return it's like we don't exist. The likes of Atleti will give him similar passionate support, sunshine, a bag of money and most important Champions League and they aren't the only ones. Grim as it is we're not in the game.
I agree and I said similar. He hasn't mentioned us at all, not even a slight hint that he really enjoyed himself and would like to return if possible.

Chelsea will want him to sign a new deal and then loan him to Atletico. If he refuses he will be sold, very likely to us.
Nothing will be decided until after the World Cup and he has assessed his future.

Roberto will do what is right for Everton so let's wait and see.

“Let me say that I am now the complete striker. I never thought I was a target man, a No.9 who could play with his back to the goal. I always wanted to run at defenders. That is still a great quality, but now I can do both. I love playing as a real striker in the box now.

“I have been playing all season for a team which has more than 60 percent of the time possession of the ball.

“Technically I have been improving as a player. I play for a manager who makes his team play really good football and I don’t have to chase the ball all the time.

“Getting the ball so often close to the goal becomes a natural thing.

“My concentration is better than ever on finishing, rather than on running with the ball. I am absolutely convinced that moving to Everton was the best step in my career. When you feel everything is working out, it makes you so relaxed and happy as a player in big matches.’’

Was, being the key work. I've read that article before. My point still stands, he hasn't come out with anything to hint he'd like to return next season.

I certainly wouldn't expect him to just come out and say I want to sign for Everton, but even a slight hint that he'd be open to a move here would have been nice.

Pretty sure he's hinted at it before that he'd consider it (but moreso if we were in CL). If he asked to come here and made it public now, he'd do himselve a disservice at the moment- he'd not be in as strong a bargaining position.

I admire the blind faith we all showing i want him to sign as much as u all if not more.. But I have come to the realisation that lukaku won't be coming back to us and the sooner we start to accept that and look for alternatives the better it will be for us.. We are everton we don't sign the best players in the world and we won't start now

Mourinho had a dig at Rom in the press during the season something along the lines of "why don't we just change the rule so that players can choose who they want to play for at the end of each season" if Rom was telling every journo that asked him about an interested club that he's going to Everton it's gonna put Chealsea's nose out of joint and might harm his chances of a move. He might not want to come here but if he does he can't just go round announcing it to the world, he pretty much answers all suggestions about other clubs in the same way, that's nice, but I'm just concentrating on playing in the WC for Belgium.
Personally I still think we must have a chance, if Roberto is prepared to put our business on hold until it's resolved he must have some reassurances that Rom is interested in coming back. If so I'm sure Roberto will have him well coached on what to say and what not to say to the press, keep it low key, enjoy the WC and we will sort it latter kind of thing, that's what I choose to believe anyway, glass half full and all that. The twitter account and this picture give a bit of hope too.

Screw him.

Overrated.

Two words for you mate:
wishful thinking.

You mention that he hasn't come out & said anything about us? Then a quote is posted of him describing us in a very positive light. You then say he 'hasn't come out with anything to hint he'd like to return next season' but you 'wouldn't expect him to just come out and say I want to sign for Everton'?

Eh?

Basically he's been very positive about his time with us, he's open to joining us & we want to sign him. He obviously won't say 'my mind is made up on EFC' or similar because if he ends the world cup on 10 goals and Real Madrid come in for him, he'd choose them over us.

We could actually do with Rom stinking the place out later & in Belgiums other matches.

He still wants to play for Chelsea so he really isnt going to go 'Oh and you know what, i WANT to play for Everton', he may very well do, but he's not going to tell everyone is he.

Juventus are "in" for him today ............

Don't know what I'll feel watching the Belgium game today. What if he picked up a WC ending injury (but would be fit for the start of the season)?
