Lukaku's Everton Frustration

Lol. that's silly.

He's become our top goalscorer. What more can he do?

Score in big games, be more consistent as a all round player.

Don't take the above as a toys out the pram reaction to what he said. Here's the thing, Only in the last 12 months have we seen Rom's all round game improve. We had to wait for about 2 years to see him improve with experience. Now he has had a good season, he is talking about the board being behind ? How about you now give us two years to improve as a club ?

Im still waiting for this £70m player to turn up as a big game winner (see last years semi final for example). At 23 age is on his side but he is not near the levels of Lewandowski, Cavani, Higuain, Benzema and Suarez for example.

If he does move then maybe with better playmakers around him he may join that elite.

I've read the full transcript of the interview and he's done or said nothing wrong.

He's not disrespected the club, the fans or his team mates.

The media are spinning his words into headlines that suit the narrative they want to spin, but that's what they do.

Moshiri needs to get Lukaku and his agent round the table and set out his plans for the summer imo.

Actually, after reading the transcript @MrGrumpy posted I am inclined to agree with you.

All he's done is to call the board out, accusing us of living in the past is little different from Moshiri's 'museum' comment. His words are being spun for click bait, so ignore (if you can) all the hysteria and accept that he has a point, though I'd rather he didn't fall into the media trap quite so often.

I was a bit annoyed at first too, but after reading it, he's not wrong is he? I think if I was a big fish in a small pond I'd be getting frustrated too, especially if he was promised more from last summer.

I know we all love Everton first and foremost, but we have to understand the players in this day and age aren't the same as us, the romance is dead, the players do have the power, and we need to back the quality ones up with signings of a similar stature or risk losing them to better teams.

It should be noted that every team in world football bar Barcelona and Real Madrid are feeder teams.
Totally in tune with you on this. Dont think any straight thinking Blue could disagree with what he has said . The point a lot of posters make are about the timing of this , a real crucial part of the season coming up that will define where we are up to , I still refuse to give up on Champions lge as we are still to play Manu Arsenal & Chelsea (all involved in cups) plus Liverpool.I admit its a small chance but lets not throw the towel in just yet with 10 games to go.
One thing I cant get my head around is who is to gain from this , Rom ? His agent ? The club? This should have been sorted out of the media spotlight at the end of the season. As I said we cant argue about what he has said , he's just said at the wrong time. I hope its not too damaging but fear he wasnt thinking of that when he voiced his opinions.

Were these players a level beyond Rom before joining a CL club? Bit devils advocate, but I don't believe they were. There's facets of Rom's game he needs to improve, but at his age, he's outshining them.

This will probably make Koemans press confence either interesting or proper awkward.

"Ok.. yes.. I am here to talk about Hull but ok... Romelu is our player" etc..

At his age is a good point, however this guy has been around for about 6 years. Yet he has been talking about UCL football for 7.
I understand and agree with what he has said, but he has had one full season (this year) where has actually shown his all round game is worthy of UCL football, just not consistently, for example when we had the run of 1 win in 10 games, big players for £70m bail you out of those runs, meaning the top dogs usually have say one or two bad games before the top dogs step in, another words world class talent.

For me I think Rom needs to sign, stay for 2 years until 25 and see where we are, if the Moshiri era hasn't stepped up to the UCL challenge, then he leaves with all our best wishes.

But looking at it this way (the rational way) doesn't fit some peoples agenda... both in the press and on this forum!

Am not the only one who thinks Lukaku is using the ( Lack Of Ambition ) as an excuse am I?

According to his agent he was about to sign the contract last week. 99.9% done he said, but now it has come out that he's not signing one.

If it was about the lack of big singings in past 1-2 windows, then he wouldn't of been 99.9% certain to sign last week.

Pretty obvious that he's had info from his agent that a certain club wants him this summer and he's not prepared to wait around for us to be challenging.

I fully expect him to be gone this window.

He hasn't said anything I disagree with and to be honest I think it's a positive he has come out and said what he has. He mentions the good things about the club: our history and the fans and says he wants to be remembered as a player that won trophies, not just individual honours like top goalscorer in the league. He is basically saying he likes where he is, the team is doing well now and are playing to Koemans philosophy but he needs to know who the club are planning on targetting before he commits to signing. I know people will say what right has Lukaku got to know that, he is only a player but he is a thoroughbred in a stable of perennial place finishers and he needs to be shown that the level of players around him is going to improve. If your Lukaku and Bill and Mosh come in and say - 'Right Rom, we are going to target VVD, Michal Keane, Youri Tielimens and Wayne Rooney to help play alongside you/take some of the burden off you in some games. We are aiming to finish in the top three and then sign more players next year,' then I think he says he will stay. On the other hand if they come in and say 'Right Rom, were moving into a new stadium so the funds aren't there to go and buy everyone we want so we are going to sign a bunch of kids and rely on you to keep us competitive and hopefully the other teams above us have a bad year like last year and we capitalise on that,' then he'll be on the phone to Raiola saying get me out of here now!! If it is the second message then we can fully expect Koeman and Barkley to be gone too.
Personally, despite how horrendous our first transfer window was, I think that Moshiri will step up and we will spend big enough to convince Rom to stay because if he doesn't, where is the incentive for Ross to stay and for Koeman to think about extending his contract? Lukaku has thrown the ball back over to Moshiri and at no point has he mentioned wanting to leave or anything about not being paid what he is worth. I am more confident that he will stay today than I was yesterday and I was still confident that he'd sign a new deal yesterday, we just need to prove that we want to match his ambitions with our own.

Points at @Elong and lol

Go ahead with that "vaulting", pal.

And don't forget to come back and apologise......if you can overcome your embarrassment at making such a silly and childish comment
You're still crying over him having a penalty saved a year ago, talk about pot and kettle.
