Lukaku's Everton Frustration

No he isn't. Kanchelskis takes that title
He was the last truly world class footballer we had at the club and I realise Rooney has played for us since. But in an 18 month period with us, he was the best right winger in world footballer...but still I preferred Tricky Trevor Steven. Undoubtedly one of the most underrated players during that era from non evertionians.

Really cant argue with his comments, I'm not sure if its due to lack of ambition though. I think every one wants big signings and the right players brought in, but its not going to happen in one season.

The issue I have with his comments is that he has no fore thought of the damage they can do and the poor timing.

If he held on until May, he really would have shaken the board up and we would have seen some really frantic transfer activity. Now he's turned some fans against him for no other reason than saying what we think.

I hope he can keep scoring, move us up the league and the board act quickly when the window opens and show the ambition I believe they have!

I've no problem with him having ambitions and he's spot of about History Vs Future. He just has a different perspective, a shortish term one, he maybe feels he can't (probably with people today - Won't) wait 6,8 even 10 yrs while all the pieces fall into place.
He doesn't want the possibility of The CL being his peak/swansong, he wants it as his bread and butter...NOW.
Also, he's been tapped up and the little bird whispered in his ear that 65-70M is the max they'll pay, aka there's only some many decent slices you can get out of a 200M budget nowadays

this sums it up. We could get to CL in the future but it will take more time. Even Schneiderlin said that the goal is CL but it would probably be a few years down the road.
"I'm sure the club dreams of a Champions League place and maybe in a few years' time we can give that to them."

I agree with @Gufty - it's all becoming very boring. First the summer and now this. Just get rid. We'll get a lot of money for him which we can reinvest in a striker (or 2 or 3) who want(s) to be at Everton, can control a ball and hold it up as well as score goals, and works hard for the team. There are plenty around.

Yes lukaku is not perfect but his control of the ball is much better and if we want cl then keeping lukaku is a must.

Why is it?
In my opinion, him leaving would be a hammer blow to our aspirations for 2 reasons. Firstly, and most obviously, he's a very good footballer. We don't have many players who are already at that elite level, and he won't be easy to replace with the same quality. Secondly, but most importantly, it sends out the wrong message. It's very difficult to convince top class players to join if they can see that the most coveted players you have keep wanting to leave. Losing stones and lukaku in 12 months would make it look like nothing has changed here, at a time when we desperately need to make people see us differently. Last season we clearly struggled to attract the calibre of player we wanted, and being unable to convince one of our existing players to buy into 'the project' is unlikely to help us sell it to others.

At the end of the day the reality is he is into his last 10 games for Everton, maybe Koeman will drop him for the last game so could be less
I just hope we dont do a Rooney plus cash deal with united, that would be monstrously depressing

Depends on how much cash.

I would take .....say £70 mill plus Rooney.

Would be typical Everton that, I would sell highest bidder anything over 80 m, probably push Chelsea to 90m and leave his agent
Mr Ravioli with egg on his face after he has promised Jose he can get him Lukaku for 60 due to his latest contract release clause
