Baines is still one of the best left backs in Europe even after a not too great a season up to now by his standards.

Baines and Pienaar were great together, just think Pienaar is finished now and will be a bit part player.

Not the only one mate, also, England didn't play him to his strength, getting forward, whipping balls in etc.

Disagree there mate. Good going forward but his defensive positioning is so amateur.

Needs games to improve that, granted, but imo he's nowhere near ready to genuinely challenge Baines

His delivery was OK if inconsistent. Better than Baines lately though.

i'd play him left mid with baines left back and mirallas on the right. you can't not play baines but garbutt is the best crosser at the club, he'd whip the ball into that area all day long for lukaku to finish.

i'd try it anyway.

jags was hit and miss. some woeful passes at times and was very slow when stones made that weird backpass.

Garbutt was our best player today. There'll be a few people a bit disappointed with that on here no doubt too.

Had a more positive contribution in the last 4 days than Baines has had since November. Fair play to the lad and I hope he keeps his place in the side. He certainly deserves it.

Played well today, has a really good left peg. Still has a lot to learn but that's fine so does all 21 year olds.

I just really want him to stay, him playing will work either way, he'll want to show some loyalty to the team giving him a shot or other clubs will starting watching him play and offer him a contract and give him a starting spot every week. Would be a starter in a lot of Premier League clubs XI's.

We've offered him a contract so the balls in his court, I'd imagine we'd be able to meet his wage demands it's just getting him to want to stay at the club, no been able to get promised a starting spot each week could become a problem too.
