Baines has actually been pretty below par all season anyway, just being honest
And yet despite that he's still managed 8 assists in the league.

The LBs for the top 4 sides (Azpiluceuta, Fillipe Luis, Shaw, Young, Kolarov, Clichy, Gibbs and Monreal) have managed 13 in total between them, with none of them over 3, in over 5 times as many minutes. They have not only had the benefit of better teams but have played with actual wingers ahead of them.

Baines's free kicks and corners have deteriorated badly and for various reasons he's not neen getting forward as much as some previous seasons but he's still been amazingly effective for a full back.

Weird, I seem to recall us playing 4 different players there all season, guess I must have been thinking of a different Everton.
That is weird.

How many do you see sitting deep in front of the centre halves and holding?

1, Barry, borderline 2 with Besic.

McCarthy goes box to box and Gibson sits bang in the middle, spraying the ball about.

Never mind just fullbacks, Baines is behind only Fabregas and Di Maria in number of assists this season. That's ridiculous for a left back.

I refuse to talk football with somebody who calls McCarthy box to box, good day to you sir.
I didn't? I said he goes box to box, meaning he gets involved in both the attacking and defensive play, depending on where the play is.
