Maybe walk away is the wrong way of putting it mate. Just think it's a shame we couldn't keep hold of him. That's all.

Chill.
There is a five year contract offer on the table worth over 1 million pound a year. For a 21 year old. With less than 10 starts.

Its a superb offer

Can't see him signing now sadly. Would have signed months ago if going to stay.
Probably but apparently he ran his last contract all the way down before eventually signing a new one.

He's got the U21 championships this summer, from his point of view it probably makes sense to see how that goes and if it generates any good offers. Our contract will still be waiting for him if he doesn't like any that appear so he's not going to lose out by not making the decision now.

Somebody should mention Dan Gosling, Michael Ball, Francis Jeffers, Jack Rodwell to him - Ok he isn't getting the first team football he wants but he is in the same team as the best English left back, leaving us doesn't mean he'll get more football or enhance his career, he's got time he should stay with us and show some loyalty and things will come good.
Michael ball didn't want to leave
Was sold by Walter smith along with a number of other youngsters

Does anyone else think this contract situation has been handled poorly? The lad shouldn't have been in a position were he could just run down a contract. We should have offered him the same contract last season and offered him out on loan to one of the promoted teams. He gains premiership experience whilst we still. Retain the services of a player e.g like Chelsea do. If he didn't want to sign the contract before last summer he should have been sold.
In saying that I'm just sorry that the lad looks on his way as I think he could be a good player when plays regularly.

Actually he's playing for Bournemouth, he'll be back in the prem next season.

He started once for them in the league this season, i wouldn't be surprised if they get rid of him.

As for Garbutt, i hope he signs, but if he goes i can't blame him, he probably won't be a regular starter here until Baines' age will catch up will him, which won't happen for at least another 2 seasons. And let's not forget Oviedo, although i'm starting to fear he'll have a Gibson-like injury record from now on, shame if it will be true, a player with Bryan's attitude and ability deserves to achieve more than a cameo role in our squad.

If we sold him last summer how much money would we got though? Definitely not more than a tribunal fee we will get if he leaves now

Whereas I would like Garbutt to stay and fight for his place I certainly wouldn't pick him ahead of Baines or Oviedo at the moment. However, I wouldn't be surprised if there were a couple of twists or turns in this saga just yet. It may be that Garbutt is waiting to see what the summer holds for the Everton squad over the summer and in particular Bryan Oviedo.
There have been suggestions that clubs may be interested in signing Oviedo and in particular David Moyes who originally brought him to Everton.

RM might be glad to get a good transfer fee for Oviedo and have Garbutt as no. 2 to Baines. Garbutt may also be satisfied with that as well as a bumper pay rise and a long term contract.

We could even see Baines move occasionally to midfield.

But we couldn't loan him out at the start of this season, there was no way to predict when Oviedo would be back from his injury so we needed Luke as Baines's backup.

Oviedo had rejoined training at Christmas so I suppose he could have gone on loan for the remainder of the season in the January window. However probably a good thing we didn't as Bry only lasted a few weeks before his hamstring twanged and just as he's been getting fit again broke his foot.

Sign him up.Send him out on loan to the likes of Bournemouth for a full season (receive a loan fee) if he progresses like we think he will bring him home.
If he doesnt sell him , 12 months prem experience will undoubtedly boost his value.Chelsea have players loaned everywhere in this situation.

By all accounts that is what we are trying to do. But perhaps he doesn't want to go on any more loan moves.
