yeah, because Bobby never suggested playing Baines in central midfield...
Yeah, but since then we've signed Barry permanently, Besic and Cleverley. Bobby's first season, with Gibson and Osman injured and Barkley just starting to force his way into the side, he probably felt he needed the extra emergency option of Baines playing midfield just in case something happened to either Barry or McCarthy. Not anymore though, we don't need him playing out of position where he'll be less effective.

He was playing the likes of Barkley out of position all season, yet when it comes down to it he didn't go through with the out of position idea he personally suggested.
Barkley has probably had as many games in the centre as he had out to the left this season and he's been equally ineffective in both to the point that Bobby feels his priority this window has to be to go out and buy an expensive number 10 rather than upgrade the keeper.
The only reason Barkley has played so many games out left rather than dropping him is that Bobby probably feels the only way he's going to improve is through showing confidence in him and fitting him in where he can to get the game time.

Would you prefer Bobby drops Ross when he's ineffective or finds a way of getting him on the park to perhaps turn it around?

People need to calm down.
It'll happen or not. Will make no difference in the grand scheme.
Would just be nice.
the fact he's not already announced he's signed elsewhere gives me hope, but then his plan was probably wait until after the U21 World Cup when his stock should be at his highest before making a decision. We shall see, it would be a loss if he went but I'm sure we as a club would survive :-)

How many more years do you think Baines has as first-choice in the team? I know he still got a creditable amount of assists and chances created this season but I felt his overall game has dipped since 13/14. I'm just mindful that he's not getting any younger, picked up a couple of niggling injuries this year, and will inevitably will one day need replacing.

If we really have offered Garbs a good contract and he's just undecided on whether to stay or not, fair enough. I'd be annoyed if we lost him because he could be out first choice for 8-10 years but we'll manage without.

He'd still not play next season (he'd now be too old for the U21's and behind Oviedo)

from his point of view, why sign a 3-5 year contract with us if we have to send him out on loans for 2-3 years of that? he'd be better off signing for somewhere that he'd play for every week.

If we'd have been clever we'd have sold him in January with a buy back clause, but Brian was injured so we needed him.

If Liverpool are going to pay out £7M for Ings in a tribunal we'll get about £4M for Garbutt.

Just get it done now. RM will know how much he can spend in certain areas and so a quick transfer out of this feller will be of benefit.

He'll be waiting until after the U21 World Cup.
If we were thinking, we should get one of Bobby's mates to make an inflated bid of £10M that we could turn down just to bump the tribunal price up.

Do we get the full amount or half?

If we keep him we could potentially have 3 of England's future back 4 in our team (Stones, Galloway & Garbutt). Well that is if people like Dier, Chambers, Shaw etc. don't progress as much.
