And he has experience to play out of position, and probably better suited physically to the game Fat Sam sent WHU out to play. Luke will play and will come good, but EL Bob made the right call today.
I agree.

I didn't before kick off though.

Show's what I know.

Stone me, so Hibbo isn't left footed... He's a right fullback for Pete sake playing on his wrong side so of course Fat Sam told the WH players to target him... And they largely failed to embarrass him... Unlike you who has embarrassed himself for getting down on one of our own players... Great support...NOT !!
Go back and read my post again block head, as I said it wasn't his fault he was picked to play there.

I don't need your permission to give an opinion on a players performance either.

There today were you lad?

Sorry, how is he experienced playing out of position?

That's utter bollocks. I can't ever remember seeing Hibbo ever play at left back before today. He's heavily right footed

The rest of the points are fair enough

He played left back twice In pre season for the 2nd half of games. Not that it means much anyway. I think he just had him there for solidity knowing West Ham would have targeted Garbutt making his debut. Hibbert can handle that kind of rough treatment. Just my opinion though.

Again, the point about Hibbert handling himself is fair enough

However, Blockhead was making a point that he was experienced playing out of position

That's completely false. Playing on the left a bit in pre season does not make Hibbert experienced at doing it

How often has he done it for the first team in competitive games before today?

I'd hazard a guess that it's never. I'm sure @Allezfan will know. He's good with stats

Whatever the result it sends a very bad message out to Garbutt. As a young player his head may now be turned.

He simply has to play next game.

Totally understand where your coming from positional wise mate but what om saying is Martinez went for troops who he knew he could depend on. Garbutt today could have been a risk with West ham being bullies and Martinez felt It right not to throw him in. I don't think that's a slight on Garbutt either, just not the right game. Tbh Hibbert looks uncomfortable no matter where you play him!!! Just joking he's been a sound deputy this season.

Don't think he'll play against Spurs or Wolfsberg as Baines should be back, maybe the midweek game v Hull or Krasnodar if we have already secured top spot in the Europa group.

He simply doesn't though mate. If he doesn't get picked it's because Martinez doesn't think he's right for that particular game. There's no hidden agenda when it comes to picking or not picking players. I don't think Garbutt is sitting there thinking "can't believe I didn't get picked over some bloke who has played 400 odd games for Everton" regardless whether he's a specialist left back or not.

However, Blockhead was making a point that he was experienced playing out of position

He probably meant when he was played out of position at centre half and did an ok job.

It's not at left back admittedly but maybe it showed he had the professionalism and focus to adapt at short notice.

I wanted Luke to start but was happy with the job Hibbert did against some of the scummiest players in the league.

Looking back at my own non-footballing experiences of playing in sports teams...I used to be extremely disappointed when I didnt make the starting line up despite being in adult sides at 13/14.

It may be he holds out till Jan to see what the score is but with baines back his chances will be limited. He should have had a chance.
