Baines couldn't get into the team when he arrived, played a few times and then Lescott went back out to LB.

I wouldn't be surpried to see Garbutt play in Germany on Thursday night and I'm sure he will do just fine.

Certianly easier to play away as a youngster than infront of the Goodison 'experts' howling with derision at every misplaced pass.

This pretty much the argument for me in regards to this game

Now, if he tries Hibbert on the Left 3-4 more times and we get slaughtered each time, that would be a different situation entirely

For this isolated case though, he got it right

I'm not ready to give up on Garbutt yet over this one match

Felt sorry for Garbutt after Roberto saying days ago that if Baines was'nt fit, that he would give Garbutt or Browning a game.
As it turned out Roberto was right, and Hibbo had a very good game..

V no winger of any class it was ideal for Garbutt to play imo!

Amalifitano has been one of there stand out players this year, plus they wouldve dropped carroll or cole over that side and played the diagonal all day long, wasnt the game to give a lad his debut in

Baines didn't get picked regularly until we signed Felliani, we had a midget midfield (Arteta, Pienaar, Carsley, Osman, Cahill) at the time and were vulnerable at set pieces.

Depends if Baines is fully fit. If so I'd start him and then have Jagielka and Browning CB's.

Then I'd give Garbutt and Ledson second half run outs (although this is obviously dependent on how the match is panning out at the time).

Its a tough call it's an important game that could decide who tops the group, Baines is our most creative player so if he's fit enough I'd play him, I'd probuably have them all on the bench and bring a couple of them on depending on how the games going. If we can get a point, then I'd start Garbutt and Browning v Krasnodar and Ledson off the bench, we also have home games v Hull and QPR coming up so maybe opportunities for them to get some minutes in the league.

Edit:- if Bainsey's not fit then definately Garbutt over Hibbert.
