I'd have loved to have known his "reasons" for not giving him game time when Baines was injured. Instead, preferring a 34 year old RIGHT BACK struggling with fitness.
Well for starters Garbutt was injured too...
People seem to gloss over that and forget it. He was injured at the back end of preseason and didn't get fully fit until a fair bit after the Hibbo incident

For Everton.

According to the echo efc correspondent, both the club and the player want to agree a deal the only sticking point is his playing time

No club can guarantee any player "playing time".

Especially not a player as yet unproven and with two high quality players in his position already at the club.

This guy is beginning to seem very high maintenance to me.

I have to disagree on your summary. There have been times when he could have been put on as a sub, say in last 10 mins for Baines or Barry but RM has let us face it not been that clever at times on his subbing.

Well, you don't often see a left back, in this case Baines, being replaced for ten minutes at the end if a match by another left back, in this case Garbutt, unless the former was injured.

Or happen we were in a comfortable position in a game and the manager wanted to blood the youngster.....which is a luxury we haven't known much if this season.

Garbutt is third choice left back at Goodison, IMO.

Behind Baines and Oviedo Baby.

That is the sad reality for Garbutt and he is really in no position to be demanding guarantees of "game time" from the manager.

It smacks of Billy Big Boots to me, especially coming on the back of the "tweets" after the Barcodes game.

I can see Luke following Gosling and Rodwell down the path that leads to the Boulevard of Broken Dreams.

Lads who thought they were better than they were and have got quite a reality check since they left us.

I agree, if hes like that he can [Poor language removed].

Use Oviedo as an example and just work hard and the chances will come

Fully understand mate, it comes out of frustration at the end of the day. But how much longer do you give Baines? Said on another thread if some one came in with an offer of 10 to 15 mill for Baines I think I would grab it.

but our formation is to use the full backs in a more attacking role to give us wider options. so for use I suppose it wouldn't be as unusual as it would be for say Stoke to do it.

why can't he be pushed up further into the winger position? oviedo has and I think Garbutt would be better at it then him especially with the left foot he has got.

belter corner taker as well.

You know that is a good point, put Garbutt on in front of Baines.

You all know he switched agent dont you?

Him and the club want it to happen.

EFC have said you can have a years loan when you sign the deal. Till then your not going anywhere.

I like it. I wonder where they have in mind? Really think he could improve a Prem team, not just a Championship one.

Really?

I think Oviedo in front of Baines is sommat we need to be thinking about if Mirallas moves on.

He is a player of proven quality and that us what we need right now rather than potential.

Bot if Kev signs up again the point is moot as he will be wide on the left, playing in front of whoever plays at left back.

I'm probably in a minority of one in thinking Garbutt is still unproven. Yes he has a good left foot. Positionally he has a good brain. But against Krasnodar at GP he was easily turned on a number of occasions by their RW. Basically he was getting too tight to him and the guy was just quickly nicking it behind him and getting on to it with a free run down the flank.

Is this new agent causing the strife?

As with any contract signing these things take time.
You cant expect the club to be banking on this guy after approx 5 appearences this season by giving him a five year 50 grand a week deal. Especially when LB is ahead of him.
He is unproven and any contract reflects this; put it this way, its still more a week than the average UK annual wage.
