I would register him and give him a few games once we are safe. We need a new first choice regardless but he may be good enough to be back up or by playing a few games some other team might take a chance on him. Having a player over 23 sat in the u23 for the next 2 and a half years on 25k p/w is ridiculous. Baines is finished in my opinion injury prone and even when he plays not anywhere near the required standard any more.

I get what you're saying, but something must of gone wrong somewhere, (and those managers haven't covered themselves in glory).
If he's in the u23s because he's got to be put somewhere, better to release him with a pay off? Shame really

We’ve seen enough players come through from the youth to know that the majority of them don’t make it.
