Luke Garbutt

Possible he's not up to it but he needed a few first team games to judge especially when we had a crap right back there. I was making a general point, Lookman being binned off by him irks me more.

Garbutt wasnt in the squad for half that time and had not played for ages.

He is also rubbish. Also worth pointing out that out best run of form this season was when Martina was playing LB... (Not saying it was down to him like!)

People acting like Lookman is the new Messi irks me more. The loan made perfect sense to me and it seems to be doing him some good.

I didn't say he wasn't rubbish in fact it's perfectly probable, my point was we don't know because we haven't seen him and are going off his loans and what Sam is saying. Whatever the case at the time he was worth some minutes because at the time we had a average right back playing left back. But it looks like he will be sold to a league one/Championship club.

Putting words in my mouth part two: I never said Lookman was Messi but he deserved more minutes especially with our current options on the left and his last two appearances for the club. Yes maybe the loan is, but a loan to RB certainly wasn't something Sam wanted in fact rather than accentuating the positives of the move, he threw the lad under the bus for daring to want to go there. It was a general point you have twisted somehow, I don't rate Sam's ability to judge a player.

He really wasnt worth the minutes. He is 24, not some kid coming through, he has not been able to hold down a regular place in a lower division and somehow what we were doing was working at the time.

Its not just you with Lookman. Ideally he could have got some time with us but its not a disaster either, it looks to have been a fairly successful loan which is kind of the whole point of sending a youngster out on loan, plus it was him who asked for it.

By the same token, we don't know that i'm not the answer to our lack of creativity do we? We can't just give every single player on the books a run out so that you can decide whether or not you agree with the manager's assessment of them.

So you'd rather play a league one right back at left back instead of giving a left back a go, you know with a left foot? Neither option was great down to our genius DOF and Koeman. Like I said it's perfectly probably Garbutt would never make it with us anyway as he's been at the club for years, but I still don't trust Sam's assessment on any player.

On Lookman you presume he will want to come back mate.

Scholes made a very good point when talking about the U23 league last week, he said that it was largely pointless having that age category, as if you’d not made it into the first team by the age of 20/21 after coming through the academy at a PL club, then you weren’t going to......

Finally, Everton show some spine and shift him. He must be like that guy that hangs around the boxing gym but never gets in the ring.

I've also heard it said he was more interested in how he looked, spending ages looking in the mirror

True although I was talking when we didn't have a left back in the team at all, a few sub appearances might have given us a better idea than u23 games. Anyway it's old news looks like he's off. Arent we allowed to make our own judgements on players as fans? Obviously we don't see them in training so we will never have a full picture. I just don't see Big Sam as a good spotter of talent or a coach who can improve and nurture young players generally, he seems to favour mostly experienced pros even if their experience is failure.

He can't be watching his former club much, Lingard only really made it into the Utd squad two years ago, aged 22.

How did Sam throw Lookman under a bus? He said he wasn’t ready to start every week (which he certainly isn’t) and so he went out on loan.

Yes, yes I would. Our record with him playing there wasn't awful either weirdly enough.

Luke Garbutt is not good enough. That's all there is to it.

If he doesn't want to come back then sod him. Why get upset about it?
