This fella was very highly rated a few years back, and keepers peak later than other positions. Could surprise a few.

Usually agree with this but hes actually gone downhill rapidly over the past years.

im going to use the goalkeeper dilemma to judge mr koeman. if we start the season with a 2nd rate keeper in the nets then i will be totally underwhellmed.

joel is not a starter for me, and steklenberg isnt either according to most in this thread.

i hope a proper keeper is being lined up

I am as well if he is number one, while we are all wanting a Butland or someone to come in, we have a problem if that is the best we can do, why do this so early in the window?

Bit unfair that, imagine we sign some absolute world beaters for a decent price and we smash teams and you're sat there sulking cuz Joel's in the nets keeping clean sheets for fun.

im all for that. its just i saw enough of joel to know he isnt a commanding goalkeeper, which is needed in the premier league.

dont under estimate the value of having a top top keeper in goal for you. having a 2nd rate keeper in charge of the defence is by no means ideal.

He played 17 games under Koeman last season, so he's seen him up close and obviously rates him.

Admittedly I haven't seen either That much but he always looked far more solid than Cillesen. People weren't complaining a great deal about him so what's the problem? Just because he's come from Fulham or because he hasn't cost the Earth?
