Rooted to his line for Christian Benteke's inevitable goal in this fixture, he was again when Damien Delaney's effort found the net but was ruled offside.
Granted Palace's deliveries would have tested any keeper such was their quality, but Stekelenburg's hesitancy was unsettling nonetheless.
The stats are sobering too. James Tomkins' header in this contest is the only shot the Blues keeper has saved in past four games.
Their improving back line are limiting chances, but from five shots on target faced, five goals have come for the opposition.
Just saw another replay of the goal and that is rank bad goalkeeping. So slow to react and no footwork. I'm sorry but that is rank bad
The disallowed goal is a carbon copy. These are weak headers and he doesn't react. It's very very poor.
How could anyone blame him for the goal
Completely disagree. He had no chance for either.
The goal came from Coleman being weak, and the disallowed one was shocking defending.
Stek has to move to the near post for each header. His positioning was fine.
Should the 2nd goal have stood? Or was it the correct decision? I only saw it live.Completely disagree. He had no chance for either.

He can be acquitted partially for the disallowed goal as he is probably put off by the man loitering offside.
But the benteke one is awful imo. This is a 15 yard header on the angle. It's floated not driven. He doesn't move his feet to make it a routine gather. And worse still, after failing to react he fails to throw his body along the goal line.
Really dreadful.

Yes and no. He was onside, but he was pulling the defender.
I think the linesman gave it for offside though, so we got lucky.
Erm tubes.... it's definitely offside.
Man in offside position tries to flick it on in front of the keeper. That's interfering. If it's not interfering then we should employ blockers in front of the opposition keeper.
Hierarchy of blame:Colemans defending for that goal was what I would expect from my 7 year old lad. Steklenburgs movement was what I would expect from my 3 year old daughter.
Pathetic from both of them for that goal
As soon as I seen him mugged on his own line by 'giant' Berahino I knew what a soft touch he was. Also noticed for a keeper who is 6' 6" he is not particularly good in the air. Gets dragged off his line a lot and his punches are not very strong. If you are going to decide to punch a ball instead of catching it make sure the punch is strong. Apart from that he has been better than i though he would be.
Correct decision. Excellent decision in factShould the 2nd goal have stood? Or was it the correct decision? I only saw it live.
He is, last night he had a few opportunities to clear the decks whilst fairly getting the ball. Needs to be stronger, braver and more decisive. As soon as I seen him mugged on his own line by 'giant' Berahino I knew what a soft touch he was.
