Most agree we need improvement in that position but if I compare Stek to the last 10 years he's no worse or better. Very few keepers don't make mistakes, the ones that make less are at the bigger clubs. Personally can't complain with Steks contribution so far, above average in my opinion.

I disagree that he is in the class of Howard even 4 seasons ago let alone 10

This really, Robles and Stek look about the same in quality to me...both no2 keepers.

Weird how after a couple of good games some of our players are rated as superstars and the rest of their careers ignored.

I remember getting slated last season when kone scored a couple...then went back to normal.

I would like to see Joel start, we all took issue with Howard being the firm number 1 with no threat of a drop which is prety much where we are now 12 months later. Only this time we now have a much better defense.

Stekelenburg has had a solid career though... it was only when he came over here that it went downhill.
 
First real mistake he has made this season, he is well in credit with his performances so far this season as they far outweigh the negatives. Ironically I must have cursed the lad, as I thought he would make a howler in the burnley game after his 'career' performance at City. However he is prone to these type of errors you only have to look at his career in England to realise that. Let's just hope he keeps these type of errors to a minimum.

To be honest I am not concerned about what a player has done elsewhere. I judge them by what they do for us.

So far Stekelenburg has been fine for me. A few dodgy moments but some great performances as well.

Of course we can do better but I dont think he is a major weakness in our side right now either. He will do for the time being until the right goalie comes along.
 

I'll forgive him Saturday for his performance against City, but for all his impressive displays he's already proven he has loads of mistakes in him. That one on the weekend, being bundled out of the way by 9 stone Berahino against WBA, being unable to either catch or punch the ball 7 feet in the air and ending up parring it into his own net against Boro. Thankfully the other two didn't cost us points, but that one on the weekend was absolutely diabolical and DID cost us points.
 
He's a good keeper, better than I expected him to be. Is he top 4 quality? No.

We need a top draw keeper if we want to compete with the best in this league, but Stek is certainly an upgrade on what we had in between the sticks for most of last season, that's a certainty.
