Maddie McCann - 100 days

It wasn't so much the everton shirt.. it was just seeing her. It's one thing to read that thousands of kids go missing each year, but when you get a name and a face matching it.... it comes more alive.

Ah right, thought she recently had a birthday to make her 5 shortly after being abducted, must have been to make her 4 then.

Basically, 1000's of children go missing each year in the uk. Many of which never found. It doesnt matter if they are 4,5,6,7,8,9,10 etc, they are still children who have gone missing. Maddie has had plenty of publicity, Everton cant do much more to help, but they could help another missing child who people wouldn't have seen or even heard of.

Have a look at this: http://www.missingpersons.org.uk/

How many 4 year old girls do you see on those lists?! Hmmmm...

Seriously Danny it is not a common occurrence! I know your feelings on it and we have spoke before but I cant agree with you...

Were did i say thousands of 4 year old girls go missing? I said children. Its also not rare babies go missing either, on http://missingkids.co.uk, 3 children are on it who are younger than 3. (and thats just on one poxy website, am sure there will be hundreds more). One being YING LEE from Barnsley. Have you heard of her? No?. Didn't think so. Bringing up my very valid point that if any publicity for missing children was to be done by Everton, it should be done for another child (like Ying Lee) rather than Maddie.

1000s upon 1000's of children go missing in the UK every year. Literally hundreds of thousands. I dont know how many times i have said that. Many are found, many aren't. The media coverage of Maddie has made ti appear that its rare a toddler is abducted when sadly, children are reported missing on a daily basis.

I've rambled on a bit there, but my point being parading more images of Maddie at an Everton game would be pointless, why not try and bring another missing child to peoples attention?

For one dont assume anything because I have heard of her!- But it is completely different as her father had some bad business dealings and has gone missing with her and their passports are also missing! So to be honest Danny- its completely different.

I understand what you are saying and maybe because Maddies parents have a bit more money behind them to push the search on is why it is still so much in the public eye.

But for [Poor language removed] sake Danny it is a rare occurrence- you are talking about 1000's of kids going missing- 90% of which are found either dead or alive with some sort of closure. This girl is 4 and is possibly still alive- the work that people like that of EFC have done to keep her image in the public eye has meant that there has been citings in Belgium and hopefully they can find her soon.

Do me a favour look back through that link you gave me and look at all the circumstances in which those kids have gone missing- most of which have been taken by parents to other countries or with parents etc, which I think is completely different.

Sorry Mick. I dont agree at all.

Maddie has had loads of publicity, Everton have already helped publicise it. If they were to do it again, it should be to help find some of the other lost children. Simple as that in my mind.

Facts are;

100,000+ children go 'missing' in the UK every year.
A lot of them are never found.
There is more than just Maddie McCann who is missing.

Right Im going to leave it because you obviously didnt even look through your own link you sent me.

What difference does it make? Yes, some circumstances are different to Maddies... obviously -as in, kids taken by their own parents etc. But, some are identical. Theres plenty of missing children out there who have just 'disappeared'.

My problem with this whole situation (which is terrible, speaking as a parent I hope I never go through this), is why does this girl get the benefit of the media attention. Why her, why now. Why doesn't this attention get extended to all the kids who go missing?

Now I will back out of this before any stray shots come my way!

Exactly my point.

I'd say the reason it originally got more media attention was because it was in a foreign country and a kid was left in the apartment, it was firstly highlighted that she was left/neglected and that was the main talking point, it then dragged people into it and interested in the developments and continued to do that.

I said I would leave it but actually I cant- I feel strongly about this because you think it is a normal thing- ITS [Poor language removed] NOT! You talk about kids that go missing- they either turn up in a few days or are found dead and there is closure. Kids going missing 10 year olds, 15 years olds whatever 4 year old toddlers do not- IT IS NOT AN EVERY DAY OCCURRENCE!

The reason why it is getting so much media attention is due to a number of things one being the fact that her parents are well monied and are pushing it through their contacts another is the fact that she has the nation due to her cuteness (no getting away from it)

You talk about kids that go missing, fine they may not get as much media attention due to the fact that their father took them, or they have dissappeared with their mother or a 15 year has run away. A 4 YEAR OLD DOES NOT JUST DISSAPPEAR- when they do it makes [Poor language removed] headline news, remember Sarah Payne? Holy Wells? Jessica Chapman?
The thing that gets you about this Danny is that in the back of your mind is that you blame the parents and dont think they deserve the coverage its getting.

Like I said I feel strongly about this and to be honest Im getting slightly annoyed by the attitude.

they should have spent the money on the child care avalible then. wouldnt even cross my mind to leave my 5 or 2 year old on there own for one second.

but i hope they find this girl alive becouse she isnt responable for her perants actions only the recipient. but i dont hold much hope.

Maybe not as young as 4, but children 6,7,8,9 and 10 go missing quite often Mick and theres hardly any media attention. I have looked at shed loads of case studies into missing children who i'd never heard of prior.

I think if any missing kid is pictured in an Everton top, then that kid would get as much support as possible.

If the kid was seen in a Celtic top, then our support would not be as strong. But the club obviously see it as one of our own and that is why they are still supporting the cause, and rightly so.

So Maddie is more important than another little 4-year-old girl who doesn't support Everton?
