Transfer Rumour Maitland-Niles

I dont think we were ever any threat to them, tbf. To Arsenal this season we defo are though. But it;s not as if he's letting go a top class player in Maitland-Niles, just a useful all rounder. You would have to be very uncertain of your talents as a manager to feel threatened by his departure.

I think though the other side to this is Arteta is scared that his sacking is imminent.

What a strong character Arteta is refusing to loan a player he loaned out last season. If I were to speculate I'd say this is something more than the player - it's the destination he wanted to go to.

There's no love lost here for him.

The helmet headed weapon.

He’s an absolute melt but I actually don’t hate him, I just really really pity him, he’s the worst manager in this league by an absolute mile and is just making an absolute tit of himself in every way the longer he stays in that job. Hope they scrape some results in the next few games so he hangs on for a bit longer.

Bloody Nora you’re going back some there mate.

The game has changed since then. Harper was a very good utility in his day. This lad from Arsenal isn’t fit to lace his boots.

Surely the issue here is that Arsenal want to sell rather than keep the loan cycle going (like we do).. if the other side know you're desperate why should they operate on your terms? We've left it late again and have no alternatives or back ups, no surprised Arsenal aren't sanctioning the loan when we gave them £30mil for Iwobi under similar circumstances.

Arsenal are also desperate to get rid. Why should we operate on their terms?

We don't learn?
Were literally trying to loan him after the Iwobi deal.
If you keep getting sick fish, would you change the pond youre fishing in or just the lure youre using?
Going back for more average Arsenal players is not a sign of learning, loan or not. Just wait till they say no loan and we end up throwing our remainind cash after them for this average, stop-gap at best player. We needed to bring in the next Coleman, not the next Sidibe.

Exactly, desperate to get rid, not desperate to loan him out and then have to repeat the cycle again next year with his value even further diminished.

If they can sell him it's a pure profit booked and they also know we have no other option. Maybe they will capitulate at the last minute and accept a loan but as each hour goes past it also gets less likely the deal can be completed in time and when you aren't strangled by FFP like we are clubs can afford to play hard ball to try to sell rather than loan, just look at United with Romero and Rojo with us, they wouldn't budge and I don't think either even played for them again.
