IMO Pienaar's final ball is quite ahead of SWP's, especially when we would be talking about through balls. But I know since Pienaar doesn't want to sign a new deal, he lost majority of skills in fans eyes.

I agree with you that his final ball is better than that of Wright Phillips, but it's still lacking for me.

I'd take Given in a second. I like Howard and all, but Given is the second best 'keeper in the league (behind Reina, it has to be said).

He deserves a tilt at a title though, he deserves far, far better than his First Division medal and an Intertoto Cup medal. Can see him joining Arsenal in January or else United next summer to replace VDS.

Top teams prefer to have a goalkeepers who can command the area, pass the ball and read the game as well, with their defences aften playing higher up the pitch. Given does nothing of that, he will never be signed by a top team and it's not a surprise he never was seriously linked with anyone. I don't even see Newcastle fans missing him anymore, probably after initial shock was over they saw how overrated Given was.
