Spurs may have just gotten a 40 mill shot in the arm, though im delighted City didnt get in - this makes our job much more difficult!

You could argue that Spurs getting into the Champions League is actually worse for us as they will now have increased spending and profile for new players, whereas City would have the spending money regardless.

But anyway, they're bad meffs, so it's enjoyable to see them fume.

Leeds and Newcastle thought the same. It's qualifying consistantly and then doing well in it that rakes in the cash. Getting in just once could well be a poisoned chalice if old Wobbly head is given a blank chequebook this summer.

I live in hope, anyway.

Difference being mate Spurs are prob the best run club in the league behind Arsenal.

To me, City played like a totally disjointed team full of individuals. In the first half in particular Tevez wanted to win the game on his own, had openings but didn’t pass, he faded in the second half.
Spurs didn’t dominate the game but had a better shape than City. City couldn’t handle Crouch or Bale.
Adam Johnson looks like the buy of the year. He must go to SA, couldn’t believe it when he was subbed for Wright-Phillips, to me Johnson was man of the match.
More baffling was the fact that 10 mins later they took off Bellamy and SWF switched unimpressively to the left. It was him who lost the ball in midfield for Spurs to score.
Wayne Bridge was utterly useless, his defending was terrible. He just wasn’t in the game. When Spurs scored he was totally out of position and then turned his back on the cross. He won’t be at City next year for sure.
Zabeleta couldn’t put a decent cross in all night. Adebayor was [Poor language removed], this guy can normally score at will. Did nothing tonight, clearly doesn’t care, he didn’t even win a header. Bellamy didn’t run at anyone and didn’t seem to care.
Spurs deserved their win, Crouch had a fantastic game, won everything in the air. Must go to SA.
Huddlestone should have gone off though for stamping.
I really enjoyed the match but may have drank too much. Shall review and edit tomorrow if necessary.

Bellamy's handshake with Shaky was nice.

BBC has a good article, says that the Yids owner is very shrewed and knows the trapfalls over over spending. So he wont be splashing out and go overboard as some would think.

They have to get into the group stages to be fair, which is where the big money is. Then the bigger cash is after the group stages. Overall, they still have to qualify to make a little bit of change. -

Similarly, Spurs or City are about to discover that qualifying in fourth place is only half the battle. Uefa has rejigged the qualification format to help teams from smaller nations reach the lucrative group phase and make it harder for those from the more established nations to progress. Last year, Arsenal faced a tricky two-legged play-off with Celtic, and dangerous opponents will be lurking in next season's competition at the same stage.

Add to this the spending cap coming in -

But even if City or Tottenham do progress past such dangers, their hopes of enjoying prolonged success over several seasons in Europe could be undermined. Not by a rejuvenated Liverpool, or other challengers such as Aston Villa and Everton, but by Uefa's Financial Fair Play Initiative, a crackdown on what Uefa president Michel Platini regards as "financial doping".

From 2012 to 2015, spending by wealthy owners like Sheikh Mansour will be restricted to covering total losses of up to £40m, falling to £30m from 2015-2018. City's owner, it has been estimated, would eventually be allowed to invest less than £10m a year in the club.
