Man U v Spurs

Common sense and referees are mutually exclusive concepts, these days.

Just look at our game today. Should have had a pen, they should have had a goal, we should have had X amount of free kicks, we shouldn't have had all our corners blown for imaginary infringements... etc.

But they are contentious issues. The ref can decide if it's a foul or not, if it's a penalty or not.

But he saw Gomes put the ball down to take a free kick, and then he shrugged his shoulders as to allow Nani to nip in and score. He's basically said, yeah go and score.

That is not a contentious decision, that is the ref seeing an obvious conclusion by the keeper and punishing him for confusion.

Well to add to the mix, it seems most places are saying United should have had a pen. I thought Nani dived, but seemingly I'm in the minority.

And with that added element, I've just realised how boring and futile this debate is. It was a crazy incident, whether or not Clattenburg caved or not, and what went through is head, is something I can't work out without the aid of telekinesis, so I'm just going to go play some Red Dead Redemption, if you don't mind :P

hey whatever mate.

Ref didnt blow his whistle once. Gomes thought he had a free kick even though the ref hadnt blown.

Gomes was a tit. Nani scored.

What happened after is more of a worst point than the goal IMO. Linesman didnt know what was going off, Shattenberg allowed Rio Duck Lips to chirp in with what was said and none of the Spurs players were...that where it's all come from.

I think it's partly that, but sometimes the ref could have said, right it's not a goal. End of. But he wanted United to score, hence his body language, the arrogance of the **** as he walked of, it was like he was goading the Spurs players. Just imagine him on a night out thinking he's the dogs nads.

By the way, you don't need to hear the ref blow a whistle to think someone has blown a whistle. Copenhagen at Barca the other week is perfect example of that.

Well Gomes is to still to blame then if he heard a whistle.

You play to the whistle...that's what you're told as a kid or you look a pleb standing there as someones beat the offside trap and scored. Nani knew there wasnt a free kick given. He goes for it, looks at the ref about 3 times before knocking it in....

Doesnt mean that Shattenberg isnt a **** cos he is. But I think the aftermath of the goal and the way he handled it was bad, and Im sure the linesman hasnt a clue whats going on.

eh? he thought he heard a whistle for a free kick, so he put the ball down.

I'll have to say if this was Everton, Clattenberg would be having death threats. It's funny how opinions change when it's not your club.

I know this is the 2nd time I have set that today, but football fans are ruled by loyalty before actualities.

"I don't support Liverpool, see what I did for Man Utd?" - Clittenburg. I can still be England top official, especially after Webb made the kind of balls up only someone with the IQ of a copper can.
