Match Thread Man Utd V Everton. Sun 3 Aug - 22:00 BST

Just saw the sly little kick to the Achilles from the Rodent Fernandez on N'diaye as N'diaye waltzed last him, slimy vindictive little Rat who deserves a good kicking.
Yes, wouldn't it be nice if we had a Cahill or Mirallas prepared to kick in return and mean it. There's a few fernandes types in the league that kick out with impunity, all need a reminder that just because the refs are ok with it the other side isn't.

To be fair, go and read the sky sports match report. We are basically only mentioned as the other team. All about united and interviews with their manager/players.

Yeah, Sky Sports did a compilation this morning on all of Mbeumo's touches in the game

Blah blah blah, last on MotD, never get any pens and so on and so on. Change the record. We come across as a desperate fan base with the insignificance of things like commentary being biased.
It is not being biased...those pundits are paid huge sums of money. The minimum I expect from them is impartiality. They were convinced it was a penalty, yet the referee apologised at the end of the game saying it wasn't. Barely any reaction when we scored a beautiful goal, and they can't contain themselves when manu scores, even from the penalty spot. It's so obvious, and they are also part of the problem with English football.

See that Fernandez sees himself as some kind of Poundland Gerrard. Hitting meaningless 40 yard cross field balls out of play and committing dirty snidey fouls all over the pitch.
Horrible rat.
Happy he decided to stay at united...with him in the side, they will never be at the top. And they could have got a huge pay day from the Saudi’s in the summer by selling him. His value will only go down moving forward.

And this is because we simply have not been a serious club for 35 years. If we had been run properly, buying proper players, and competing for trophies we'd be more than the supporting cast in a Sky Sports report.

Our fans moan that we barely get a mention - but what have we as a club done to get a mention during the Kenwright years? Or now with the Friedkins? Why would we get more than a mention when plenty of our fans are happy to extend the contracts of Coleman and Keane?

Our club is riddled with mediocrity. United are not dissimilar now, but they do have all of those years as THE top club to fall back on. And they still win cups or make finals even in decline. We have pitch invasions for surviving relegation.

It was quite weird to watch a match where the commentator said how good United’s press was… as we played through it with ease. And then how well they were passing the ball around… as they pinged a ball out for a corner to us from just inside their own half. I thought they were v dodgy for the most of the game tbh, in spite of that spin doctor commentary. We did well. Boost the squad and we’ll be in business.

It used to just be about the football. I'd expect a post match review to reflect that. instead, it was a love in for a club that finished below us in the league last season.

Everton hasn't been about football for 35 years. It's been about the egos of our owners and the acceptance of mediocrity by our fans.

The United love-in has always been there. When they were crap, they were still spoken of as "contenders". It's not only the media parrotting their lines, though. Some of our own fans, who should know better, routintely refer to United as the "biggest club in the world". It's like they take some weird national pride in this propaganda and have never heard of Real Madrid. It's also cover for accepting our place in the world and staying in our lane. Up to the formation of the Premier League, we had won two more top-flight titles than the "biggest club in the world" and routinely beat them. Back then, we bristled at their propaganda. The last 35 years have simply exacerbated our utter irrelevance.

This is the challenge for the Friedkins. Up to now, they're nowhere near up to it.

No this is the Scab six effect.
Threaten to leave sky high and dry and march off into the sunset with all the money.
Sky is now in a relationship as a bullied partner with self esteem issues - do as I say, feed me etc. or I'm of at the next cartel to flash their knickers at me.

It was there long before that. The question we need to ask ourselves is: why were we not in a position to do likewise? Why did we not have the same options as the six?

We were part of the big 5. Now, we'd be battling to make the top 10. Utter decline.
