Over time that's going to have to happen, because that lad is NOT a defender.

Right now though it's a bit short notice to be trying that out tomorrow.

Every ex-player and manager who's watched him play says he is a defender, though. Dier played in midfield for Lisbon quite a bit IIRC.

Stones hasn't got the strength that Dier has to 'dominate' the midfield, though I do agree that he probably could play in a more advanced role if needed. His position will be as a centre half, though, I'm sure of it.

This is the type of game if Liverpool had it in the past where Stevie GBH would turn up.

Barkley has to stamp himself in a similar way tomorrow. He has to outshine that City midfield and take control.

Cometh the hour, cometh the man.

The same is true for Del. He'll be a valuable asset if he continues t create against the likes of Villa, Sunderland and Swansea, but he needs to win us a game or two against high-profile opposition if he wants to take his game to the next level

Like Naismith did.

Whatever happens happens. It's a great shot at a final and, as RM stated, we've earned the right to take that shot at it.

From his press conference words it looks obvious to me that Martinez isn't going to sit back and allow us to absorb pressure constantly. I reckon he'd be right thinking that hardly any team beats us by two clear goals if we get out there and 'be brave' as he likes to say.

Think city have shown they are a great team with the ball and an awful team without it. If I was Martinez I would expect a high press (after the weekends events) Midfield all need to show if we are going to pass it round them.

Thing with Del'boy is that whenever he's come against a full back that isn't wet behind the ears he doesn't have as much joy, he needs to be aware of, and utilise whoever is playing behind him to open up the gaps, he'll learn this with the right coaching.

Expecting a cagey affair tomorrow night, I just hope we don't sink too deep, too early and sit off leaving Rom chasing shadows all night.
