Yes a lot of interesting view in that.

I think Maguire is good, in fact very good, but probably not world class and 80m is very steep for him (but then United have fallen into the trap of overpaying for a number of players).

England did get a favourable draw, but honestly, England have had favourable draws and made a habit of ballsing them up. He played well in the world cup, and at the Euro's too.

I like him as a defender and would have him here in a flash, but not for 80m if that makes sense? As for the nowhere near a side with aspirations of winning the league, he was a key member of a side that came 2nd last season, so I'm not sure that is true at all.

As for Conte, yes he's worked with top players. He's also made Victor Moses look like Cafu and Alonso look like a peak Roberto Carlos. There are enough raw materials there to work with. The issue is going to be how he fits into the broader "philosophy" of the club, in terms of how they like to promote youth etc.

They probably missed a trick with Tuchel, he feels a better fit for them. Hard to know who else would take it really. I know you like Rodgers, but it feels a big jump to me. He did do well at Celtic though.
United came 2nd with a measly 73 points, 2 of the current top 3 will pass that points total by March easily, United were never ever in any point in the season in a title race as challengers it was only after Chelsea capitulation of 2 wins in the final 11 did they somehow find themselves in 2nd and when United did get 2nd cemented City had already wrapped up the title almost.

I can see Conte signing Skriniar or Bastoni if he ends up at United, Inter are strapped for cash, Varane and one of them is pretty good, then add Maguire to that and it could work having them at either side of him, the football will be horrendous though for the OT faithful, it's never pretty football and Conte's sides like Mourinho get picked apart by the counter press, it's why both of them have not done anything of note the last 10 years in the CL since Counter pressing changed the game.

Imagine your team winning yesterday but you’re so minty that you can’t even enjoy it as you’re so obsessed about other teams… sad really.

Yes fair point on points total. However it's a bit of a stretch to say he couldn't play for a team competing for trophies, when his team finished 2nd and his international team got to a European final! That seems a bit ludicrous to me.

Re Conte, I'm not sure it's about a counter press. I seem to remember his Chelsea team hammering the Pepe and Klopp counter press with some ease in their title winning season. My own view is hes more suited to league football, rather than 1 off cup games.

Inter were in a similar relative position to United, and he turned them into champions. In some way Chelsea were too. I think he would be a good option. He likes to spend, but it's not like they are short of a few quid.

Did you lot invent that as well?

Ole to stay every time, deserves to see out this contract, Fergie was under more pressure and they stuck by them, it's time United stuck by a manager long term and see if Ole is the next Busby and Fergie, they should evaluate after year 3 of this new 4 year contract he signed in the summer.

They are on their 4th manager since Fergie left, time for some stability and ride through the storm and see what happens.
Interesting choice of words.

LOL! Fergie was a ruthless, relentless born winner who toppled Glasgow dominance. Ole won the egg-n-spoon race with some tinpot outfit in mickey mouse norwayland how many years ago. Even Cardiff could spot how utterly inept and clueless he was. No top club in world football or serious chief exec would ever considering hiring this PE teacher.

If you go back and read the idiots previous posts, he wanted his beloved rs to lose so it would keep OGS in a job. Thats how thick they are.

United haven't kept a clean sheet in ages, Ole has to go he isn't and hasn't be ready for this job.

Defensively they are one of the worst in the league, Conte comes in and moves their defensive line back 10 yrds:
Maguire - Varane - Bailly/Lindelof in a 3 man defence with wing backs in Shaw/Telles and Wan Bissaka/Dalot to create width.

Instantly shuts up shop and United become a harder team to beat.

It is 9 games in and they are 8 points behind Chelsea, it's a long old season and they could easily cut into that.

United have a decent squad but I think the quandary will come trying to massage 3 massive ego. Pogba, Fernandes and Ronaldo will all themselves as the star man. Hopefully they keep Ole at the wheel and that 4th place comes up for grabs.
