It only works if he's given the support required to make the wholesale changes to the club, which includes removing the gutless dross and buying effectively.

It was mentioned on TalkSport that he may have £200m to spend in the summer, to which they instantly said, "That's not enough." Really?

I'm not talking about instantly converting them into a consistent PL and CL side, but if they shed the rubbish and buy smartly (and prudently) it's a great start.

The issue is whether he'll be able to do the above because we've already seen that they're inclined to overpay and bring in players for non-footballing reasons.

If the things behind the scenes aren't sorted, it'll be another failure. God, you could easily be talking about Everton here.
Apart from the bit with the pound sign and the zeros.

whether they're crap or challenging at the top they'll be the hottest topic of discussion and their ex-players occupying punditry for well into the next decade.

that era of Manchester United dominance was the last time teams were packed with native English players who've now retired in their own homeland.

The squads of Chelsea, City and Liverpool will have very few in any players who'll go on to work with Sky, BT, BBC or ITV as more than guests.

You lot got giddy about every single one of those players when they signed. At the start of the season you thought you had a chance at the title and top 4 was a given. Fast forward 6 months and all your players are rubbish and need to go.

Exactly this, they were giddy as anything when they signed a few players, 6 months and a few bad performances and the green & gold scarves are back out.

Hopefully Ten-hag will buy good players not show boat ponies on 400 grand a week , we need to realise if keep making the same mistakes this farce will continue, we have no divine right to win anything
It was a massive mistake giving OSG a contract just because he had a good run as interim manager.
He was everybody's mate when he started as temporary manager but it was obvious to all that he wasn't strong enough when in the hot seat.
I can never understand when teams say that a manager has so long to save his job or a few games to prove he is up to it.
United were weak when they gave him the job fulltime, he done well as interim manager and the board didn't have the courage to stick to there convictions and bring in a manager with the right credentials.

The only way I see Ten Hag being successful is if he has the (as Frank calls it) bollocks to clear out half the squad.

The problem as everybody can see are the players so there's no chance in hell he can come in and try to change the culture or the dressing room without blowing it all up.

From his comments so far, he sounds like a bit of an authoritarian which you do need for some discipline but only if the players buy in, and I doubt this lot will do it.

I'd just do a straight clean up, and get rid of everyone over 25, maybe keep Varane, Fernandes, De Gea, and anyone who comes in has to be asssessed whether they'd fit into the club culturally. You gotta go after street fighters like Rooney who leave it all on the pitch. Saint Maximim from Newcastle would actually be a good fit for them. Kulusevski looks like a steal for spurs, and I doubt they'd sell him on so quick.

Yep Rice would be good with Sako but could they afford these

Think that Kulusevski on loan, think there will be plenty of teams looking at him. Assume he stays at spurs though if they get CL, which isn't certain at the moment.

I can honestly see Ten Hag getting rid of De Gea as one of his first assignments. Great keeper obviously but Ten Hag plays out from the back and De Gea absolutely cannot do that.

The rest of their squad is just a mess, to be honest. Quite a few leaving on a free / retiring at the end of the season which is great for the wage budget but not so great for funding the rebuild that they need. How many of their players will go for what they're "worth" given recent performances.

Nah he stays at Spurs - they have an option.

Spurs have an obligation to buy from Juventus, I think its 30m euro, which is a snip, because the way he's playing he's first choice.

De Gea is probably part of the bad dressing room environment, been there long time, high wages, no competition for his place. Ten Hag should get rid of him, but he's hard to replace as he's a top keeper on his day, which means Ten Hag might put up with him (though he shouldn't).

I saw that Ten Hag will only be able to bring in a few players which tells me he doesn't have full control of the squad, so once again, being the American model, the coach has to coach, the front office looks after the transfers. Though they gave him 'veto' power. Regardless, the power seems like its still in the front office. I think next year will be more of the same for Man U - maybe worse, maybe 8-10th....
