According to reports in the Portuguese media, Valencia midfielder Manuel Fernandes is set to join Sporting Lisbon on loan for the rest of the season.

Available on loan.....and we're not going for him? What?! Ha

I have a feeling he'll be that type of player for the rest of his career, moving every year on loan etc....he wouldn't have to have been if he joined us...his loss! We'll just have to play him next month (if he joins and if he's not cup tied?)

Not even a little bit bothered. Am I the only one who thought he was average?!

Could be a bit of a legend in these parts now. If only he had signed that contract quicker instead of eyeing up Bully's watch. His agents wouldnt have hastily thrown him on that aeroplane out of john lennon airport. He set the thing off as he went through passport control - still had the pen in his hand.

I would have loved him to come back last year, but he didnt, the love affair is over. We are better now and have a quality midfield, he could readily replace Osman I think...but he aint comin so it isnt even worth thinking about. :(

Time to look forwards....

I heard he was touted around and we werent intrested - i think Moyes even had a sly dig at him in his press conference yesterday but im only guessing.

Sad in a way he has/had the talent seemed to be doing well at a certain point last year, not well enough for Valencia to keep him and his proposed loan move to Inter is meant to be with an option to buy - whichis a big if seeing as he wasnt Inters first choice anyway - its hard to see the decline not continueing really when possibly better players have struggled to get into the Inter team.

Wouldn't say he was average. The total opposite in fact. Outstanding in some games (too few, I know), crap in others. If I were a journalist, I'd be contractually obliged to use the word 'inconsistant'

He's been injured for alot of the season and Ever Banega has been in outstanding form really, it's going to be hard for him to get his place back this season. Once a team finds a balance, it's hard to change that without disrupting the team. He is rated highly there though, the fans want to see him and Banega together as a partnership.

It's a good move for him, Mourinho rates him highly, he compared him to Makelele when he was a kid at Benfica, and whilst I don't agree with the comparison (different players) he could definitely a big player with the right manager behind him.
