If we can get Pienaar back and bring Manny in on a bosman for the Cahill role that only leaves the right side left to focus on. Defenders would hate playing against them.

Well yes obviously if the figures massive or tiny you can draw some conclusions from that, but you have to have actually seen all the goals to know what an assist means. Because it's just the last person to touch before the goalscorer.

So a yard pass to a striker in his own half who then runs past ten men and scores is an assist but a mazy run and sixty yard pass that sets up a one and one that the keeper saves and then the rebound gets buried isn't an assist.

This has nothing to do with Fernandes, I just don't like it as a statistic, it doesn't always give you a true picture of how crucial the player is to their side's attacking play.
