Regardless, I feel comfortable that Brands is indeed a true D of F and he's going to call the shots. He wouldn't have come and said what he said if that wasn't the case. The manager appointment will be one he is 100% behind. And if so, that's the best illustration that it's Brand's team and others (ahem, Bill Kenright) aren't meddling.

Not too shabby considering the teams he managed
if he had any coaching ability whatsoever he would have been able to at the very least shore the defence up.

he knew he was in a struggling team , the first thing fat sam did was work on defence, infact I think that's the only thing he worked on.

you will get nowhere in this league conceding 2 goals a game , and scoring only one.

Every team outside the top 6 had more goals against than for and Silva did not really have much time to change too much at Watford to suit his way. Sam worked on defence and he still conceded more than scored. I am not defending Silva I am looking at the resources he had, the teams he had and really couldn't expect much from him....BUT....he is young, successful in a couple of different countries and as former players have said meticulous in preparation. He is not a negative manager which seems to be your problem with him. It could work, it might not, we just don't know but at least he is a forward thinking manager and we might see our forwards come to life under him. Look what he did with Niasse when he was a laughing stock here. I am not adverse to giving him a chance and won't use his previous relegation fodder clubs (PL) as a yardstick.

he might work, he might not, but going on what he has achieved so far it doesn't look like we will be getting a man good enough to execute a game plan to rival the top 4 or top 6. what we will have is a manager who can beat the bottom half teams and lead us in to 7th or 8th.

the club have released a statement today saying we should be fighting every day for the top.

in that case we need a TOP manager, not one who has already been relegated from this league and then gave up on the job at Watford.

For me Benitez is a decent manager who I feel can build a team over a few years. Don't think we can get any bigger because the bigger managers wouldn't want to start from scratch and have less resources from where they came from or are used to as it would damage there reputation.
Fonseca, Emery (without Monchi) are as much a risk as Silva. Benitez is the only proven one amongst all likely candidates but as I said earlier his Newcastle team finished below us so is that his reputation down the pan. Hard call, risky call no matter whom.
