Totally agree with this, but the reason prices are generally seen to be inflated in January is because many of the buying clubs are desperate. No team deliberately goes into the season thinking they’ll have to do business in January, it would make no sense. That’s where the myth of it not being a good time to buy comes from. So a lot of teams who buy players are doing it because of injuries/relegation fears etc so they can be taken advantage of. If you don’t fall into those categories, you can still do decent business.

I don’t think he refused to deal tbh, as Ancelotti said himself at the presser, they both felt that there wasn’t a good enough opportunity available which is both heartening in that they weren’t going to just spend for spending sake and disheartening in that no one at the club will be doing dances around USMFF that weren’t able to bring fresh blood in
