No more than bang average. A 6/10 player in terms of quality + consistency.

MASSIVE revisionism going on because he got injured.

From a PR perspective, at least, getting injured hasn't been all bad for Andre.

A quick glance at the Gomes thread, pre-Son-tackle, will tell you he was getting slated in the 1st half of the season.

He wasn't exactly Mr Consistent last season either.

I cant believe anyone still believes in this imposter. Four transfer windows: two of them he sat out when we were desperate for players to fill certain positions, one was an utter disaster. The only one he did a reasonable job in was the first one he arrived here...and even then he underlined what was to be his trademark inability to shift unwanted players out of the club.

If he left tomorrow his legacy would be:

  • couldn't sell players for a fee
  • signed multiple players who were either injured or injury prone
  • spent a fortune to have us stand still in player quality - or even regress on that
  • by-passed by the owner on managerial recruitment

Apart from signing Digne, I cant say there's anything this feller has done that would leave him with any other worthwhile legacy.

Brands is lucky we have Carlo as the manager. When Carlo gets some of the signings he wants ( He is the decision maker in this setup now ) everyone will be praising Brands.

The true praise should be at Carlo's feet, not the Dutch Steve Walsh.

Silva signing...as we all know.

Nope. Brands is DoF. It’s irrelevant who identifies, scouts, does the data analysis or makes the first contact with the player. He’s the man who signs off and approves all our incomings and outgoings. That’s how accountability works.

Silva may have identified other players that Brands then brought in, same as Koeman probably identified Bolasie / Gylfi, but Walsh signed those players off, so is accountable.

He gets credit when the signings under his regime are good, and gets the criticism when they’re not.

How can you be 100% sure when a signing comes in it's a Brands or Carlo signing? Or both (which it will be).

Also give him credit for shifting deadwood.

He's competant for the money we paid.
I would've gone 7.0 / 7.5 but it isnt often he hits that.
I hope he comes back twice the player, but we didn't under or over pay for him and he always has a snidey red card in him.

I think Dave still doesn't quite get how the whole DoF thing works TBH, which is why he's so down on it.

Brands has to sign off on everything, but he won't sign a player that the manager doesn't want. Manager is quite welcome to ask for a certain player, but if Brands doesn't want him, we don't sign him. That isn't how it worked under the previous regime.

On his day he can boss a midfield. Those days, though, are few and far between. The rest of the time he gets over-run in midfield.
