2019/20 Marcel Brands

The best thing we can say now is that Brands and Ancelotti look cool and smart...good image for the club..but… sigh

The fact that Marcel sanctioned the signings of Iwobi, Gomes, Kean and Delph does not fill me with confidence. That’s around £85 million right there. Disgusting wastes of money.

The entire fanbase was buzzing when we brought Gomes in on a permanent deal. It's horrendous revisionism to suggest that this was some sort of huge error by Brands. There would have been murder if we'd not signed him

our best players are his signings. Cool game to play to ignore that he signed Richarlison and Digne and just focus on players that haven’t yet come good for us.
No way Richarlison can be seen as anything other than a Silva signing.

He came to England after being pursued by Silva.

...and the day he signed for Everton:

"I want to have a lot of success with Everton. I think it is going to be important for me here to be with Marco Silva again. I will learn more because I am still learning as a player and I aim to develop and grow here. I've known the manager for a while obviously, so I know how he works. I developed really well with him while he was with me at Watford. It was really good working with him and one day I believe he can help me to be selected for Brazil in the full national team."

cant have it both ways. There’s several signings that I wouldn’t class as Brands and have Silva, Kenwright or Moshiri all over them e.g Iwobi, Kean, Delph but when you are a DOF you’re accountable for all the players that move in our out. So he takes credit for Richarlison and he takes blame for Iwobi. Can’t just give him all the bad signings though and attribute the good ones elsewhere.

He's signed Digne, and that for me is his only creditable purchase.

I think it's daft to challenge the view that Richarlison ended up at Everton because of Silva.

Who signed Kean? I reckon Moshiri

Digne doesn't stink and I concede that it was a good Brands purchase...his only one.

It hasn't worked out for Bramds. He's been a big fish in a small pond, but he's now been found out in the big time.

I think its beyond stupid to take away transfers he's made.

My stance has been clear, he signed every single player since he took the job.

As I said, there was a story the other day that Silva demanded Iwobi and Brands said no, so Moshiri went over his head.

But still, Brands signed Richarlison and Brands signed Iwobi.

It was his watch, he's the Don.

Their relationship is so deep that, when asked his favourite metal, Richarlison said “Silva.”
