2019/20 Marcel Brands

If I sat on the Manchester United board I'd definitely be eager to steal Marcel Brands away from Everton FC. Massive impact.
That’s always a worry but Jose won’t work with one.
If however Jose throws his toys out of the pram and resigns I can see Uniteds board looking to Brands or someone of that Calibre is Monchi to come in and take control of footballing matters
It seems to be the way football is going and it’s the American way

There's no point in prejudgung what he's done this summer. It might be that his actions achieve all you say it has - but that will be dictated to by results on the pitch. If we dont get it right then it will be all too easy to go in the other direction and declare the summer work he did as useless. You can restructure a squad (anyone off the streets and placed in that role could) but restructuring isn't what you get plaudits for, results are.

I think that the process seemed to have plenty of cohesion, as for the first time in what seems a long time, the manager identified areas where we required new incomers (not that it was difficult) and the recruitment team actioned it and delivered. The cohesion on the post that you quoted, in my opinion has little reason to be questioned. The result of it, well, that we don't yet know. I'm excited to find out though.

Cuco
Schneiderlin
Bolasie
Sandro
McCarthy
Besic
Pennington
Galloway
Browning
Vlasic

You could even add Jagielka or Keane to the list as 5th choice...
While I agree that those players are not good enough we would need replacements for some of them to give the squad depth and balance
Can’t just promote youth unless they are good enough

When brands came in he said more in 1 day than Walsh did in two years.

Now brands in 3 months has argubally achieved more in the market than we have done since 2013, and even then that was underwhelming. This is the reason we wanted him, yes not every player may work out here. The point is, players like the Barca trio, at some point they are good enough for the Barcelona team. Zouma is still young and highly rated, richaldson we have seen first hand what he can offer .

For once Everton fans can enter a season with real optimism. Yes I don't expect us to win the league or even get close to it, but to compete and make us proud ? That's what I'm looking forward to and brands has delivered just that. A team filling up with winners, a manager who is a winner , just a breath of fresh air.

Now we go into wolves with hope, how boss would it be to win on Saturday knowing we have all these players to come into the team? How much better we can get compared to how bad we were this time last year?
I want us to go to the pit , Stamford bridge , The Emirates and NWHL and compete , have a go and try to win
With this squad I think we will

I wouldn't have seen Richarlison fitting into the Brands methodology, and he is the biggest fee we paid. Gomes, Zouma, Bernard, are all rescued from their own circumstances and represent, for me, a massive gamble.

Gomes

16/17 season - 47 appearances (2652 minutes)
17/18 season - 31 appearances (1185 minutes)

Zouma

16/17 season - 17 appearances (802 minutes)
17/18 season - 37 appearances (3127 minutes)

Bernard

16/17 season - 37 appearances (2409 minutes)
17/18 season - 29 appearances (2242 minutes)

Apart from Gomes last season as Barca brought in Paulinho I'd say non of them are being rescued from any circumstances.

I think his most important decision was the signing he didn’t make
As @catcherintherye stated in a post when he walked away from the Tierney transfer ( which I really wanted ) he told the world he won’t be messed around and he will not overpay or deal on other clubs terms
Compare this to Siggys signing last summer ( I rate Siggy by the way and think he will shine this season ) where we wouldn’t walk away and it shows that this man knows his job and has a well respected reputation.
The links with Barca ( yes Dave I know Bobby got there first ) could prove to be very useful in the future either in loans for younger players / players who haven’t quite cut it there or outright purchases

Demonstrably untrue, unless you count “stuffing the squad with number 10’s” as restructuring.

Brands’ journey has only just begun.

Still got 21 days to get rid of a few more players.

Oh Dave, you are such a hypocrite. You are the ONE that has prejudged Marcel Brands since the second he walked into the club.

OK. You don't like the DoF system and would rather have the dying breed that is a football minded CEO. That's fair, you're entitled to your opinion. But, having made the decision to go down the DoF route, any true Evertonian would at least give him the opportunity to do his job and WANT him to be successful.

But you?, not a chance. You have been nothing but critical throughout this transfer window, jumping on any slightest opportunity to have a dig at Brands, such as that ridiculous dummy out of the pram Joyce article the other day. Make no mistake, Brands has delivered this transfer window, in a way that our fans haven't seen for a long long time. He has brought in players of proven quality to cover the positions the manager wanted. It's a case of well done Marcel, now over to you Marco to make it work on the pitch.
