It doesn't. No way he'd mean it that way. Someone in his position wouldn't be daft enough to use his twitter account to undermine the manager.

Silva is a manager laying down his style right now and Grant's words are simply underlining that he hopes he's more like Mourinho in terms of ruthlessness.

Next season starts this season.
You cant just start off with players new to each other...that is a recioe for losing a lot of early points.

If we're serious about having a DoF post then buying quality early is all part of that job.

Ball's in Jug Head's court. Let's see if his new role has clipped his wings this window.

Then why don't Barca, Bayern, Madrid, City, PSG, Juve or any of the well-run clubs in world football do the bulk of their business in January?

The summer is far, far better for integrating players into new squads. If we needed players for this season I'd get it but a new additions won't take us to 6th and going without wouldn't drop us below about 9th, so what's the point?

May as well wait til the summer when there's gonna be better strikers available and it's a better to get them used to the team

Because they have great teams that need tinkering with, we have a raft of positions that need sorting and we should be spreading that across this window and the summer so that we can fill those positions without it destabilising us.

Go on all night with those questions.

There's a whole world of professional footballers out there, it's the DoFs job to know who the right ones are (multiple targets for each position).

If we dont buy this month then it;s down to a financial decision not to...and then we start off next season running in order to stand still.

I prefer it - gives the club an identity. Anyway, Liverpool hardly did well after abandoning the boot room!
