So much more formidable in the transfer market since this man arrived. He basically gets who he wants and with the kind of deal that he wants. I can see this guy taking us back to greatness again in a few years assuming that he is still here of course.

His threat is being able to make others more of a threat.

He's basically a Brazilian Pienaar.
So many times last season I watched him jumping up and down on the touchline, begging for the ball to be switched across to him. Bernard loses players so easily and when the ball is lobbed over to him, his touch is unreal! It will be sad to see him on the bench but is also the type of player we need as a sub...

This next week and a bit is going to be exciting :celebrate:

The fact that he's taken a seat on the board gives me hope that he won't up and ditch us the first time a "bigger" club flashes a bit of ankle at him.

I don't think he's the type to uproot and leave mid project, he knows the potential of this club and he could go on to become a legend here.

Don’t think there’s an Everton player in recent history I hold in a lower regard than Ashley Williams. The effort you’d see him put in an Everton shirt was negligible compared to his performances for Swansea. Yes he was ageing and on the decline but it just seemed like he’d got his big pay day and packed it all in.
Tbf, the effort you would see in him trying to get in an Everton shirt was immense!

I still think we might get Zaha but I think Brands can find younger and better for cheaper abroad

I agree, I’m unsure on Zaha, doesn’t fit in with Brand’s ‘young with resale value’ strategy.

Clearly a good player, like. Just think we must have had encouragement from player and agent to go in for him.

Think we may let it go the wire to see if the player forces the issue, if not, we move to the next on the list.

Brands will come in and find us cheap unearthed South American gems.

2018 - £40m for richarlison
2019 - £40m for Reinier jesus

No cheap punts here, Marcel hasn't even bothered, he's gone straight for the top level because he has a bottomless pit of cash
If those 2 live up to their potential then we are looking at 250m in a few years time,
Cheap is relative

Yeah, that is a good point, I don't know the full ins and outs of boards and share options but if he's now getting them, or more of them, he has a vested interest in sustained progress leading up to and including the stadium move.

The difference with Brands is he actually has the skill to affect share price, rather than just sitting around on the board hoping they grow organically like others have done in the past.
