Was just typing this, it's entirely possible that Silva and Brands are happy with Holgate. I didn't see him at all at WBA but it should be safe to assume he's come on a bit... and he's never been as bad as the likes of Williams.

Depends if the Smalling/Rojo shouts were true though, if they were it's worrying.

One of them is made of paper and our backup is a CM or Holgate/Gibson... We may be fine now but the likelihood is it won't be at some point in the season...

I mean even young Gibson looked good in pre-season, got plenty of minutes. Obviously the Prem is a big step up, but he's going to be fifth choice at most anyway.
 
He said when he came in that he is not the man for a quick turnaround but the man for a long term project.

We're drastically short at centre half but I'm really glad we didn't pay £25m for Marcos Rojo. We all want a young team and we have two young players as back-up centre backs. I'd rather that than retain Jagielka.

This hero worship of Marcel is dangerous because now whenever anything happens that isn't brilliant it will be seen as let down by him personally.

We are still a club in transition. Our goal is to compete with the top 6 every year, not to throw everything at a one year tilt. It's not as if all of them did amazing business either.

Mina came with a bad injury and needed time to heal , this doesn’t equate to being ‘made out of paper’ in any way whatsoever.

I hope so very much. I can see us getting off to a decent start with our run of games.

That said though...


First two consecutive losses and the pitchforks will be out over not having a good option to rotate Mina and Keane with.

I can see the writing on the wall.

People writing off a whole season cos we didnt buy a 5th choice CB.
