2019/20 Marcel Brands

Seems like he brought in a lot of mediocre players and kids that 'may' come good. Add in the panic at the end and overall, I'm disappointed.

Vastly improved the squad and still made a profit.

What a man.

Gonna be egg on lots of faces once the footy starts.

Not a big fan of Iwobi but Brands deserves the benefit of the doubt because of his previous aquisitions.

However, its not a signing, but a lack of one (CB) that is worrying. Not got a problem with Holgate stepping in for the odd game as I actually like him. The problem comes if both Mina, who had a few injuries last season and Keane who manages to get the odd stange injury himself both manage to pick up knocks.

A CB pairing of Holgate and Gibson is very worrying.

Time will tell how costly not getting a CB in will be.

If Holgate, Mina and Keane step up like we know they can we’ll be fine and it might even force Holgate to finally hit the next level.

Was just typing this, it's entirely possible that Silva and Brands are happy with Holgate. I didn't see him at all at WBA but it should be safe to assume he's come on a bit... and he's never been as bad as the likes of Williams.

Depends if the Smalling/Rojo shouts were true though, if they were it's worrying.

I mean, we have definitely been after a CB and failed to land one - Zouma was the first choice target, then the Utd castaways as Plan B.

Nothing landed, so we're stuck with Holgate. Certainly not what was intended.

We hear the same story every year, often before the last game of the season. 'Transfer targets already identified'..

I'm always a bit confused by this.

So it's clear Zouma was our no1 target. But after this? What? Smalling or Rojo? I really like what Brands and Silva have done but the world of football is vast and how we haven't brought in a beast at Central defence when we clearly have the funds is a bit concerning.

Let's see how it pan's out. Bit disappointed in this respect but hey ho. Roll on Saturday.

Lets wait and see first?

Come on, mate. It's really poor from all involved. It should have been done, even if there are mitigating factors.

The benefit of Delph is he maybe gives us breathing room - if fit - to play Gbamin there if needed. But it's not what a team who's looking to push on should be doing.

Overall the window has been okay, and each signing is a good one - in particular I think Kean will be excellent. But this is a major cock up to not have something sorted. We've had long enough.

That doesn't make sense, either he did bring in a defender (that we ALL knew we needed) or he didn't.. he didn't. That was a treading water window, I don't think we've moved either forward or backward. Was hoping for better, but hey-ho, season starts saturday, so here's to Everton :)

I would rather focus on what we have personally.
