I've said all that already. It doesn't mean the players signed this summer are good value for the fortune paid for them though does it?

Maybe in a half decent setup they would.

Maybe if we played fast counter attacking football, or a 4-3-3, high press we’d actually see the best out of the players

But nope they’re being forced into a system which hasn’t worked since Martinez

Maybe. But that wont change the attitude or approach of teams coming to defend.

His record alone at buying / loaning injured / injury-prone players needs critiquing.

The Zouma saga was a calamity that Steve Walsh would have been pilloried for. And the sale of Gueye (and for a paltry £29M) was a disgrace.
Like it or not, gueye is a poor man's kante and was never going to go for an inflated price. The price was rather reasonable given his age and contract status.

There was no zouma saga. We wanted to sign him and Chelsea publically said no from the get go. We may have waited to see if that answer changed but that's what you have to do sometimes. We aren't at the statute to boss a team like Chelsea around when it comes to transfers.

Ok the players may have the injury prone tag, but who is that exactly? Delph? Had an injury pre season and no record of that. Gomes, of course but then on his day he is the best midfielder on the pitch away from playing city. Can't think of any other injury prone players he has signed so far.

But then he has to gamble on players. His gambling got one of the best left backs in the league today, signed an exciting young Winger on iwobi, Mois Kean, these players have massive potential and that is what makes us progress.

We can't sign established players who will take us to the next level. Because in part, they don't want to come here, we win nothing and never compete with the top teams. So how else do you sign better players to improve ? You gamble on them but take gambles worth taking.

So we can beat good and bad teams? That's what I said.

No you said we were knocking off good and bad teams, implying it was a walk in the park for us. When the reality was it’s below 50% win ratio against extremely poor teams, at the end of what we thought was a fantastic run in.

That hasn’t been rectified due to very very poor tactical selection from the manager

Exactly my thoughts. We need a fluid fast moving midfield like the kopites and yet we play 2 holding midfielder and the slowest midfielder in the league and wonder why we can't punish teams.

The sale of gueye should have been the sign to change how we set up but here we are, with schniederlin his replacement

Bernatd arrived injured; Gbamin was taken with a knock and inflamed it.

Zouma and Gueye sitauations: it was as was argued: he was wanted by one of the richest clubs in world football, and they stole him off Bramnds for a paltry amount. Zouma WAS pursued for the whole summer ti the exception of looking at any other option...Barnds stated that he was fixed solely on Zouma.

Maybe. But that wont change the attitude or approach of teams coming to defend.

It will.

Instead of having 15 minutes to reset their defensive line whilst we’re arsing about playing one touch football between the two centre backs and midfielders, we’d have the ball up the field

A change in formation will also allow 2 of the three midfielders to find space in the pockets. The defenders then have a choice, close the player and leave a gap behind or back off the player and hope he doesn’t cause any issues

The play is laboured, slow and predictable. That’s a manager issue

You've turned a qualitative debate into a quantitative one.

Can Silva beat poor teams and elite teams?

Of course he can, it's there in our results.

You were nowhere to be seen when we were beating Chelsea, United and Arsenal last season.

...and you still cant force an opponent to push on. They'll just narrow the lines and camp out on their 18 yard box looking for a set piece every now and again.

So can any manager on the day

Totally irrelevant.

The bottom line is those players at his disposal are at a completely different level to those at Palace, Villa, Bournemouth and Sheffield United

He did it three times in a month, and drew with the two CL finalists.

It's a complete nonsense to call this manager anything other than decent.

Utter tosh, you have a player occupying the holes by running beyond the opponents midfield the issue is on the defence to either push out and close or allow him the space
