Cant see him not staying sadly but would love us to boot him he's been bang average here.

....for all we know, it might be a situation where he doesn’t want to stay.

For me, the jury is very much out. Some decent signings but a player with a history of hamstring injuries should be given a wide berth and the Delph signing was particularly disappointing. Reports today that Sigurdsson is to be given a new contract, think I’d be looking to move him on.

I said on the Carlo thread earlier RE Brands/recruitment:

"Brands takes the flack for me - lets be honest Godfrey aside (who even then cost us £25 million) his signings have been lazy and largely just sign whatever cast off the big clubs deem not good enough.

You have players like Eze going for £18 million, Soucek for £15 million - why isn't our supposed world class DOF (renowned for unearthing talent im told) nowhere to be seen bringing in these players?

These days every PL side has money it all comes down to quality of manager and recruitment - we have the former in Carlo but we are severely lacking in the latter.

Even this window we'll bring in someone like Khedira or Isco (not that I wouldn't be happy enough with those deals) but its just lazy and not addressing the fundamental issue that we are desperately for ambitious players with fight and importantly Pace Pace Pace!"

Him/his scouts have not once brought in a player from under the radar who has come in and made an impact and surely thats what makes the best DOF's for clubs who haven't the FFP leg room that your Man Utd's or Chelsea's have?

...Godfrey, Branthwaite & Nkounkou might be solid investments, Digne and Richarlison are already terrific signings. I wouldn’t put him anywhere near the Steve Walsh debacle.

We can all highlight individuals who have gone elsewhere, but signings need to be part of a strategy. Players need to fit the way the manager wants to play.
