...Godfrey, Branthwaite & Nkounkou might be solid investments, Digne and Richarlison are already terrific signings. I wouldn’t put him anywhere near the Steve Walsh debacle.

We can all highlight individuals who have gone elsewhere, but signings need to be part of a strategy. Players need to fit the way the manager wants to play.
Richarlison came with our late unlamented Portuguese manager doubt Brands had a lot to do with it other than haggling over money.

Allan, Doucoure and James already look shrewd buys too.
I always feel if a DOF can be 1in 2 or better as a success, you're doing very well.

....yep, the obvious benchmark is how the team is performing but I suppose you could also consider resale value. Rodriguez and Allen are unlikely to realise profit but their impact can be determined. So far so good as far as they are concerned but it’s probably better to judge at the end of the season.

I like Doucoure, his appears a signing linked to a strategy in that he was the type of player the team needed.

Doucoure is getting better each week I see him to be honest. He faded a bit yesterday bit was really good first half.

And you are right. You look at the team and see if it's going in the right direction. It does appear to be going in that way now, after 2.5 years.

Hes bought 2 midgets.

1 is the best LB in Europe and the other is a bit poo, but both cost 18m.

Nice joke tho.
LOL. The best LB in Europe isnt even the best LB in France. Hernandez from Bayern is miles better and the first choice. He was number 3 in Barcelona something like number 4 at PSG. The guy had 2 decent games at a mediocre english premier league team and now he is the best LB in Europe? Get real. He is good going forward but cant defend for toffee. Rewatch the Southampton game. Pathetic!

Modern fullbacks dont need to defend.

Why is he being picked by Deschamps as first choice for France then? Deschamps is an Uber defensive manager as well yet still rates Digne.

He was number 2 at Barcelona behind Jordi Alba at the peak of his powers. I think the powers that be at Barca probably regret the move now and would have Digne back in a minute if they could afford him.

2 decent games? He was our best player in 18/19 and after the restart in 19/20 then he started this season like a train as well. He had a few months of poor form when he was injured for us.

There’s a handful of leftbacks arguably better than him in world football and we couldn’t afford or attract any of them, yet there would be a queue of top clubs knocking on our door if we ever sold him.

He walks into City, United, Arsenal, Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, PSG, Chelsea.

Let's put it this way, Digne left Barcelona where he easily could have been just as rich and had medals to show for it to play for us for some inexplicable reason where he will, mostly likely, not win any medals. Ie: he PROBABLY really just wants to play and fair do's to that. We have waayyyy too many players more than content to sit on their arse and not do a damn thing.

"he was #3 at Barcelona and #4 at PSG". OK? I mean, I really doubt that but let's just entertain the validity in that statement for a minute. He's come to Everton and been probably one of the top 3 LBs every season he's been here. Personally I don't care what anyone does anywhere else nor what they do on in training, I care what they do on the pitch on match days. And he has, consistently. shown up and performed. Even a "lacklustre" Digne is better than just about any other LB in the league.
