Wasn’t his fitness training notoriously hard? Thought people like Stubbs and weir used to comment that they dreaded the preseason fitness drills.

The line of ‘he’s cheap and he’s only fourth choice’ is fine but as long as he’s in the squad there’s a chance he plays which is what happens as soon as we have one injury to either Allan or Docuoure.

We have to move to a point where Evertonians aren’t sweating on the availability of one or two players as dependent ton whether we can beat bottom of the table teams at home. ‘Oh god Allan is out, I’m not sure whether we can deal with Sander Berge and John Lundstram’. That sort of stuff is ridiculous. If we want to be a top 6 side we need a raft of 6 central midfielders all of the required quality with pace and power.

And Gomes? I wasn't putting forward that any of your list should stay, just that the youngsters aren't a priority. The big salaries the senior wasters are on is what is holding up buying replacements.

True and they didn't struggle against energetic sides,but you can't legislate for the odd knock. Anichibe and Arteta to name just two were out for extended periods.

Affordable is the key bit.

I think people forget that there's always an imposed limit on what our wage bill can be.

A lot of people despise a lot of our squad, but it's not like we can just punt them all to the u23s and go out and buy a load of quality replacements.

Gylfi, Bolasie, Besic, Delph, Tosun, Gomes, Bernard, Iwobi, Davies, and Gbamin. are being paid the better part of 700k per week between them.

It's gonna take time for this squad to evolve. We've tried wholesale change before and it didn't work.

If we keep our powder relatively dry, we'll be in a better position than a lot of clubs come the summer.
 

In general, I am a supporter of his, but our lack of forward depth could really derail the season.

No DCL for a couple games and potentially no Richarlison, really hurts us.

Terrible that we allowed both Kean and Walcott to go in the summer without signing at least ONE replacement.

Very disappointing.
